Graphics Card (Cooling/VRM) Tier List (Navi Update)

On 4/14/2019 at 6:26 PM, LukeSavenije said:

does the amd stock do too?

and is the difference between the nitro and the pulse big enough for a whole tier?

Yeah, the pulse has a 4+2 vrm, and 4x 6mm heatpipes, while the nitro has a 6+2, and 2x8mm and 2x6mm, it also has a 8+6pin vs just a  8 pin.

They get the same temps, but the nitro is a good bit quieter.

there should be an intermediary tier, not quiet A, not quite b.

I'd get the nitro+ because of the better warranty support

If I remember correctly, Twin Frozr is the same as MSI Gaming X (which is a tier B cooler).

What about EVGA XC Gaming? Is it the same cooler as the non-XC Gaming series?

E.g.: https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-2172-KR

EDIT: Nvm, I think that there is no non-XC Gaming series lol. Well, GPU is way cooler than my previous RX 580 so cannot complain.

How the Asus Matrix in this list already there are no reviews yet? In theory is should cool well, but without reviews I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's top tier.

Interesting, I didn't know they reused the name. The one that I was talking about was for the 2080Ti Matrix that has a built in AIO. Either way, that doesn't matter since:

Speaking of the 2080Ti Matrix, here is a review (TL;DR it cools really well):

Funny enough, it came out 2 days after I made that comment.

if its by cooling potiental, then all hybird coolers (vega64 LC, evga hybrid) should be tier 1. 10-15c below any air cooler.

looking into that soon... that might be a good one

Just now, Firewrath9 said:

also, the reference vega's are vapor chamber, msi air boost might be (their GTX aero uses heatpipes)

@LienusLateTips can confirm you that it still doesn't really run cool... but I'll add it

well, do any blower models run "cool"? kek.\

Load GPU Temperature - Battlefield 1

the vega 56 is a good bit cooler than the GTX cards, and the 64 is tied with the 1080 ti.

actually the hybrid is only ~6.5c cooler than the Strix at a given noise level, but is 12-17 cooler than non-strix cards.

Yeah. I know that.

Somehow doesn't thermal throttle with only two ultra-low-speed case fans blowing in lol

1080 ti.

The issue with majority of these charts is that the test bench was open, there's no extra air flow to aid what taints the results a little... my own 1080 Ti Founders Edition peaks at just 78Cº on full load (overclocked at 2000mhz mind you) but my case has impeccable airflow on a relatively cool room.

?? If there was no extra airflow to affect the 1080 ti, then there wasn't any for the vega 64?

I never said that the blower 1080 ti is shit, just that it is worse than most open air cards. Open air test benches should be cooler right?

The strix is actually a bit better.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_RTX_2080_Strix_OC/37.html

strix is 11c below FE, 1 dba above

https://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/122366-evga-geforce-rtx-2080-xc-ultra-gaming/?page=12

6c below FE, 1dba below

yes, i know different sites, but I trust both, and used a comparison point (aka a baseline)
