1280x1024 vs 1920x1080 ?

I was wondering whether there was really that much of a difference in quality, whether when you are gaming it looks any better. considering going from 3 1908fp (3840x1024 eyefinity) to 3 1080p (5760x1080) monitors, 19.5" to 21.5", and the ppi is only 20, so if it isn't worth the actual quality as in the grass looking better etc. than i might just got to a single 4k monitor. Other benfits of the three 1080p monitors is better colours.

Single monitor is always better for gaming. If you want more get an ultrawide then

Just keeping this here as a a 1080p monitor will almost definitely look way better than 1280x1024. I odn't even know if there are any modern monitors that are 1280x1024.

There aren't just supoport for its resolution is there.  Try 1400x900 ........ 1280res is just nasty and big and what not.

And that's a damn shame, because 5:4 is the best ratio for productivity work.

Yeah i can handle the 4k res, i was thinking of a 3440 x 1440 monitor, but they are very expensive.

Multiple monitors have the issue of seams between the monitors. And games cannot account for this (the game cannot be aware of how wide the bezels are) so this creates odd spatial disparity.

But if 1080p will look a lot better i can get three va panels for 180 canadian dollars from a friend, and it would still be a pretty good ultrawide experience.

Yes i am aware of those isues, that is why I would like to have an UW, but I definetely find 3 1280x1024 monitors immersive as i have gotten use to the bezel differentiation, and you can correct for it quite a bit in amd's software...

I think I will just try to find a cheap used 4k monitor. Considering my specs i should be able to run games at high with some AA, so it would definetely look better than 1280x1024 ultra i would expect.

I miss the 1280x800 Thinkpads. Yes, I know 4:3 is not 5:4, but squares in general are better for productivity than 16:9 and 16:10 rectangles imo. 21:9 is a different story depending on what you're doing.

While I agree that for general viewing of the videos or internet that a traditional 1080p monitor would offer a better experience. However for gaming the motion clarity of 1280x1024 on a CRT monitor would arguably offer a much nicer looking image than 1920x1080 on an LCD. I’m actually hopping between the two right now in the game “Hard Reset: Redux” and I’m definitely digging the look of the 1280x1024 on the CRT more.
