Don't judge by brand. Especially when they're using a different OEM than usual.

They've used FSP before in several other units. EVGA has a long track record of making slightly louder than normal PSUs. Until we get testing, I would presume that this would be the case for the GD.

I'd go for the U9, just because there's more info on it.

I overclocked my RAM and CPU awhile back, to 4.9 and 3400, but I don't have it on anymore because I don't really care about performance with a 1080/60 monitor.

Well... Hong Hua is actually "safflower".  Which is why they have a flower (that looks like a fan) as their logo.

I don't see the word "red China" in their name anywhere.  They do use "Dongguan" because that's where they're located.

Fun fact:  Dongguan means "Eastern Bulrush", which we (U.S.) call cattails.  So if we look at their translated name in English, it's Eastern Bulrush Safflower", which would make you think they sold seeds or were in some sort of horticulture.  :D

Their website is down for me, so I couldn't find the exact characters they used. Judging by the name of every Chinese company though, it was likely.

Turns out I'm wrong :/

Weird.  I work with a number of Wangs and Wongs and they all use 王.

But it could just be that 黃 and 王 are different families each choosing different ways to spell their anglicized name.

I've seen the same with Huang and Zhang.  And I've seen  黃 more often spelled as Huang than Wang.

Anyhoo... It's a lot like my name.  Go up the same family tree and Gerow, Giraud, Giraux... there's all the same.  :D

Wang is more common in China/Taiwan. I think Wong is more a Hong Kong thing but I'm not sure.

黃 is Huang in Mandarin, Wong in Cantonese. So it really depends who you're working with.

Most likely the Min pronouciation. It's mandatory in Taiwanese schools to learn Min but I never went to one, so I don't know.

this is a A+ tier correct?

Is there anything else I should consider around this price range? Thanks.

Yes, it's in the A+ tier.

You could go for an RM650x if you wanted to save some money, 650W is more than enough for most PCs.

You could get a lower wattage model of the RMx. Since it lacks multi rail, that would also be safer. Alternatively, the HX 750 for $99. It does have multi rail, and enough wattage for multi GPU.

Curious about the G3 being in the "budget" tier- the 750w model is still $129, and it has excellent reviews from everywhere that I can see. Why the downgrade?

it's time
