will this be enough?

aezakmi

if tl;dr I marked the most important stuff in bold

My gf told me she can get me a new monitor for free from her workplace since they're replacing old computers, most of them were the usual 17" samsungs but there's a single 21" viewsonic that looks sweet and it works

did some research on it and its resolution is 2048*1536 a bit odd since it uses VGA as input that's no problem since I already have a DVI to VGA converter which I use in my current monitor

I mainly use my rig to game and I was wondering if my 2 toasters *ahem* RX480s will be enough to output stable 85 FPS (with or w/o vsync) at that resolution on games like Battlefield 4, CSGO, Overwatch. Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3, etc at high settings except for CSGO which I play at the lowest

I also play CS 1.6 and League but those can run on any card so nothing to worry about there.

Thx

Really even if it for some random reason couldn't run at that resolution, you could always just play at a lower resolution. You should also check for the response time and refresh rate for the monitors if you are considering playing competitive games on them. Even though 480's are last gen, they are still really great cards that can handle a lot.

Witcher 3 would likely be the only game that would struggle, but that has more to do with it just being a demanding game in general.

some games don't allow for lower more common resolutions or add 2 black bars which looks weird, I always aim to play at native res, Fallout 4 for example can't run on 4:3 so I just have to play it at 1080p

I already have one so I'll only get a resoluiton boost from that one, except for that single game the rest look decent

1080p LCD/LED screens cost a kidney in my country and most are only 60hz.
