GPU Overheating

Set up a new computer made up of old parts I had. Everything is fine in the system except for the GPU

The GPU keeps overheating whenever I try to play a game or run a benchmark.

I've applied new thermal paste and even taken the whole cooling shroud apart and cleaned out the heatsink and fan.

The GPU still throws itself up over the the heat threshold and crashes the system.

Have you checked if the fan is actually turning, it could be a dead fan and are you applying any form of overclocking?

Download some software like MSI afterburner, to crank up the speed of the fan.

That will show if it works

Yep, the fan is functioning and I do not have an overclock on the card.

Try cranking the fan to 100% and then check the Temps with a benchmark.

Otherwise I'm all out of ideas, my gpu doesn't even hit 60c with the fans at 34%, but that's because of the twin frozr.

Also, ensure that there is adequate airflow. I did some testing with a AMD phenom and the idle temp was 82c, but after I added some case fans the temps dropped to 47c idle, I can confidently say that good airflow helps with managing temps.
