Dell P55F not Booting

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

So here’s what happens:

- I turn on the laptop

- The Dell logo shows up with the swirling loading sign

- The screen goes dark, no lock screen, but it is still on, but it never gets to the lock screen

i tried to boot with a recovery drive, but the same thing happens. Any ideas?

Hi There!

Booting to black screen can be many things. It could be power, it could be a recent update, it could be a corrupt driver. Maybe try booting windows into recovery mode and see if it will boot without into safe mode. Or you could see if there is a recovery date that is before any updates.

thanks,

Try booting from a Linux Live USB stick.  If that doesn't work, you have a hardware issue.  If it does, you have a software problem (or a bad ssd/hdd)
