Hmmm, cooling wise, they suck, but arent those supposed to be highest quality, binned chips etc..? Still a 1080 tho, and i was surprised to see my 1070 Ti beating it.

I've tried unboxed said you can get 60 fps on med to low on 1440p, I can't even pass 57fps on low on a asus strix. And that's the premium card over the normal ones.

Strix 2060 here, depending on game med-high custom settings gets me to 60-75fps most of the time at 1440p some dips to 50 though (doesnt bother me with freesync). Except for cpu intensive games where my cpu is the bottleneck.

However im just casual gamer; things also depend on system and ones needs. Someone who wants stable 144hz needs more power for 1440p (but with 1440p 144hz monitor money wint be an issue then ;)

57fps everything on low seems way off with 2060 1440p unless cpu necked in online play which i have in some cases

No, not really, they didn't perform all that well compared to the partner cards, most of them will out perform the Founders card by a large margin.

That's why they used the Founders cards to compare to the 1070Ti's so they could inflate the performance and sell them.

And people bought into it, I am still laughing about that one to this day.

Now with the 2080's and 2080Ti's it is different, they are no joke. The cooling holds them back a little though.

Well in my country the 1660ti is selling like hot cake. Summer is near so demand for pc is insane. One of my dad friend own a computer shop so i know. The 1060 6gb is still fairly popular though since you can get them used for cheap.

On my side its the RX570/580 for resale cards and 1660ti for 1080p and 2080s for 1440p

I guess I am blissfully ignorant. Have used both AMD and Nivida GPUS and AMD intel and Cyrics(sp?) ( yeah I am old) and have always had the best performance and best stability with Intel/Nvidia. When 3dFX and Monster GPUs were the thing, I found AMD gave you the best bang for your buck. But in all my years in is IMHO that with a few exceptions they are all about the same and will get the job done.

Not knocking anyone, but to be honest they will all give about the same performance. People spend entirely to much time and effort arguing about what gets the best this and that when one is an only small bit better than the other. imho. BTW your system is a lot like mine..Good taste there ?

1080p

Well, well, well, nvidia launched their gtx1660 ddr5 6gb 5-7fps faster then a RX580 but priced at RX590 prices, but no one already buys the 590 for 1080p.

Most smart buyers either aim for rx570 or rx580s or even go for second hand rx 580s at $85-$99,the host on tot said the 1660 will rule over the 1080p gpus but I don't think so when there are still so many 580s and 570s in the resale mkt, what do you guys think?

I still think most people will go for rx cards over the 1660s.

Is AMD crushed in the 1080p area?

it's not really about whether amd is getting crushed, i can care less about that, it's about the budget, either for 1080p 60hz or 144hz.

For 60hz you still can't beat the 570 for $140usd and 580 for 180 usd with 2 free games.

the 1660 fills the low 200 gap and all it does is make the 1660 ti a bad deal, i'd just skip straight to the 2060 or v56 with 3 free games if i'm looking for a 1080p 144hz build.

The 1080's were pathetic compared to the higher end 3rd party cards like the Strix and FTW2's etc. the cheap low end 1080's performed more like the FE cards though.

The 2080 and 2080Ti FE cards are good and solid however other than the cooling could be better so they could maintain higher clocks. They did a great job this time with the FE cards.

Not really.

Depends on what one is doing and looking for performance wise in the end.

Mid Range and lower end there isn't much of a difference that really matters.

On the high end is were the real differences are and have been for a long time.

The price difference between RX590 vs GTX1660Ti is really "non-existent" in my country, and 1660&RX580 priced almost the same (though the Radeon cards come with free games, though p2p is so popular, that I consider it no value..)

As both 1660 and 1660Ti has much better power consumption, and I'm kinda obsessed with small PSU-s and small wattage consumption, I'd pick something from the greenz.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )
