Well considering Nvidia now supports Freesync.. no need to run it like you are saying.. just hook the display port up to the 1080, go into the Nvidia control panel and turn on Gsync and you are good to go.

Hi guys .

i have amd r9 390x and nvidia 1080

i am trying to use the freesync monitor on nvidia card but when i connect the DP port on the r9 390x the games doesnt detect the nvidia gpu or i try to run the nvidia control panel it show this message : nvidia display settings are not available.. you are not currently using a display attached to and nvidia gpu

any idea?

Why not connect the monitor to the 1080 and install the latest nvidia drivers?

you wont notice a difference. All it will help you do is keep your frames syncd with your panels refresh rate. Its only noticeable if you have screen tearing in games.
