GPU Help

I have a Dell Optiplex 990 MT and I'm waiting for my gigabyte RX 570 to arrive. I do have an aftermarket PSU which is up for the job but is that GPU compatible with my motherboard?

cannot say, that's why upgrading prebuilts are a pain. The PCIe slot works, but the BIOS might refuse to cooperate.

I've upgrade a bunch of old Dell Optiplexes with new video cards, although sometimes it doesn't work.

 

You'll just have to try it out for yourself.

I mean I already have a Ghost XFX HD 7870 in there and it's running fine. I'm worried about the RX 570 cos it's a newer card. If the 7870 is working fine then does that mean that the Rx 570 will be well?

it should in this case. I've made an RX 470 work on socket 775 platform so this prebuilt, based on 2nd gen should have no problems.

Thanks for the reassurance 😄 now I can sleep well tonight. It's my first actual PC upgrade apart from when I actually modified the OEM
