Nope, not once. The iFixit - toolkit is on my list of stuff to buy one day, but it's not very high on that list and it's not on the list because of Linus. Everything else Linus advertises and/or uses? It's always either stuff I have no use for, like e.g. PIA or that billing-software, whatever its name was, or Squarespace, or stupid/overpriced gaming-stuff. Also, it may be my Asperger's that's causing it, but advertising doesn't work too well on me in general.

Well, that it is until I bought into it and noticed that I needed to pay the $60 upfront immediately when I thought it was the $2/month deal.

Safely got a refund for my $60 and never made contact with PIA again.

I bought a HAF X after his unboxing, but TBH the case was on my shortlist already.  Also ended up buying some Fractal cases long after they stopped sponsoring him, but that was completely unrelated. 

Normally I just ignore the ads and not let them influence my decision, but if they are annoying enough I'll make sure to never buy the products.

I ironically bought PIA before it was an advertisement for LTT, so no. The iFixIt toolkit was advertised by a number of youtubers so I cant exactly give LTT direct credit

I tried FreshBooks for invoicing but quit it after the trial month. Same goes for TunnelBear, tested the free version back when they were sponsoring LTT but never ended up paying.

If iFixit didn't sponsor basically every tech YouTuber, I wouldn't have a 64-bit driver kit. I think that's the only thing I've bought from an ad that Linus made.

I also own an IFix it kit as well. I dont use it all the time, but it does come in handy when I need it.

I wanted to buy the iFixit thingie, but got a cheaper knock-off instead. Works fine for what I need it for.

 

A week/month(?) or so before LTT began shilling Seasonic I bought one for my Sleeper build. So there's that, I guess.

 

The ergonomic keyboard stuff is something I follow with strong interest, too, but none of that made me want to ditch my Natural 4000, yet. I guess it really is hard to improve on perfection.

I was interested in iFixIt but I then got a better deal in a local shop for a 44 piece set. Works great. Everything else, either not interested or not available.

I signed up there with Linus' referral link. I had seen the ads for it before on other channels, but took the plunge after seing it a few times on Linus' channel.
Good blades, but after two year I had to cancel... too many blades. I only need like... 2 or 3 sets of four per year, yet the minimum was 6. I've cancelled like 2 years ago, still got 2 sets of four brand new blades left. So maybe next year I'll resubscribe. (or switch to Harry's... or some other, I dunno)

 

Edit : Just took a look at Harry's... It's cheaper than DSC... but when I looked at the cart to see the shipping rates,

I bought a year of Tunnelbear and canceled it after I realized I don't need a VPN. I also use Ting now, though I never had the need to speak to customer support even once, despite Linus really selling that point. It is very affordable for my needs, so I can't complain.

People who say they don't buy things because of ads don't understand how ads work. 

 

Ads rarely try and create direct sales. They work by spreading brand awareness. If you're going to buy shampoo and see two bottles with cost the same and claim all the same things, you're more likely to buy the one you've seen in ads. You subconsciously trust that brand more because the more you see something, the more familiar and trustworthy it is in your eyes. 

 

If people on here see an iFixit toolkit next to a unfamiliar one at Home Depo, and they cost the same, a large portion of Linus viewers, even those saying ads doesn't affect them, would pick the iFixit one. The ads has subconsciously made you feel more safe and assured with iFixit over the unfamiliar brand which might actually be better. 

 

 

There have been studies regarding this, showing that people will pick brands they know of around 80% of the time, even when told that the alternative is better.
