Best cooler for Ryzen 2700x

Puffing

Hi I’m wondering what the would be the best cpu air cooler for the r7 2700x, I plan on light overclocking maybe even pushing past 4.0, this would be my 2nd build and it is for video editing and gaming.

Best cooler for r7 2700x?

Some good options include the Dark Rock Pro 4, Dark Rock 4, and Arctic Freezer 33 eSports ONE. They should be enough for a 4.0GHz overclock.

best coolers are the Noctua nh-d15 AM4, and Dark Rock Pro 4.  they are overkill though and you can manage with a Arctic freezer 33/34 esports or Dark Rock 4.

also, if you arent overclocking to 4,2 or 4,25 ghz. dont bother overclocking as running it stick is the better option as it will offer more performance in every situation.

only a allcore 4,2 ghz (or slightly higher) overclock is worth it

Ahh, I’m very concerned about noise, which of those coolers would offer the best performance while being cool and maybe able to get to 4.5

dont expect more than 4,22-4,25 ghz allcore on a good mobo. Zen+ dont really clock higher than 4,3. like at all

Ok, will a Ryzen 7 be suitable for video editing, and also is the dr4 able to get the cpu to 4.2 or is the drp4 a better/more reliable option?

the stock cooler can get the CPU to 4,2.

get standard 3000mhz DDR4 CL16 memmory. remember to get 2 sticks and running them in dualchannel.

the Ryzen 7 is great in just about anything. you will be better of going for intel if you are going into the adobe suite

you can hit 4.6-4.7, but that was done on LN2 while feeding 1.87v into the CPU IIRC, so not really usable for day to day. Without LN2 and obscene voltages, 4.3Ghz is the best you can do, and that's winning the silicon lottery. Most will do 4.2-4.25 on all cores, or you just leave it at stock and it boosts all cores to 3.9-4.0, and single cores to 4.35 sometimes (most workloads don't use all the cores so leaving it to boost itself gets the best single core scores).

A 7700K is just fine for Adobe stuff. I used a 6700k to edit a 25 minute video essay, it can handle it

I would liquid cool it, to keep more stable clocks.

I like Corsairs AIOs, as their RMA process isn't that bad.

not worth upgrading from a 7700k no.

wait for Zen 2 and see how it holds up in benchmarks. not that the 2700x is bad, but the 7700k is probably a better experience for the most part

I wouldnt overclock it, in case your PC crashes during a Adobe Render

Since I’m here, is there a big difference from performance in tech smith camtasia vs premiere pro when rendering. Just curious.

rendering is faster on 2700x because it has nearly double the multicore performance (except Premiere Pro and a few others that can use Quicksync acceleration, which uses Intel iGPUs). What holds Ryzen back is the editing process, that's a single core work and Ryzen isn't that good at it.
