When Intel only makes sense if you buy an i7 or i9... Seriously it still bothers me people who insist on building with the i5 9600K, so overpriced for what it really is.

i3 8350K? why would any one pay the premium for an i5 7600K rebrand that can't keep up with a RTX 2060? lel

Zen 2 might change reality across the board, how exciting.

I hate this title.

This just feels needlessly clickbait. It's now "Is AMD for poor people?" while you could have made a much more honest and interesting title by calling the video something like "Is AMD the budget option? A look at Intel vs. AMD budget value" or something similar.

That is a much more honest and straight to the point title.

I can't wait for the next video from you guys, "is Intel for bozos that like overpaying???" /s

Separate from the title, I felt the video was neat, I liked it. More PC builds, especially in these type of price ranges please!

The disclaimer I'd throw out there is that intel seemed to cut corners on chip design for their IPC advantage. Which makes me think later down the road when more patches are available for spectre vulnerabilities... intel will be impacted more than AMD.

Can Anybody Link A Virtual Machine while I go download some RAM?

80% of those who buy yes, the other 20% definetly NO , editors, streamers, youtubers and people who work with 3d modeling. AMD is bad just for games, in lots of tests people that use AMD during recording and depending of the software and mode get advantage over Intel. Also in this test he did gaming, Victory for intel, but when came the part of streaming AMD surpassed in between 2 and 10 FPS (in some cases lost but we can call it bad optimization).

No, it isn't, I am (and know a lot of people who are) not impoverished and have an AMD CPU.

No.. why would it be? Besides, the people who say "AMD IS FOR POOR PEOPLE" or "AMD SUCKS LOL" are usually salty Intel fanboys.

That's the impression I am getting from this thread so far too, not even looking much at the video and its results..

Plus this video only touched on gaming, on the i5 8400 vs R5 2600 PC test, the R5 would perform a whole lot better on for example streaming, or in some video editing programs.

While I agree AMD has quite a bit of catching up to do in terms of single core performance, I can say they are a really good option (especially with the ever rising Intel prices :P )

I can just imagine this thread becoming a flame war; just because of the provocative nature of the title.

Why didn't they test something else than gaming like video editing or whatever?

Like, if i'm a gamer, this information is useful, but what if i also edit video's or whatever?

If you guys are going to make a video like this again, make clear at the beginning of the video for what the system will be used.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

Just a minor question.
Would it be also possible to get any productivity numbers in similar videos next time?

Personally, if I were to be making builds out in and around this price point, I would expect for the gaming performance to be relatively close... and rather I was surprised it turned out to be much closer than I expected.

As I've always seen the potential productivity advantages being the main selling point of Ryzen chips, I think it's rather worth looking at how much of a potential productivity and multitasking advantage an extra set of cores could grant me in common applications.

Example ideas:
- Premiere/Vegas/Resolve Encoding.
- x264 CPU Encoding while playing game. (i.e. 1 PC Streaming setup)
- Compression & Decompression.

I think amd just tends to not really stay on the cutting edge very long giving them a perceived lower quality

While they are competitive in the midrange area , their tendency to not really top charts and to simply disappear off the face of the earth for a few years .... idk maybe it is best for someone at a lower budget

Yes. In this case, we were focused on gaming (working title: How Much Cheaper is AMD for Gaming?), but if we return to this kind of video again in the future, we'll probably end up doing a broader comparison, unless we're targeting it (like "How much better is AMD for productivity?").

That would be very good.

I hope Zen 2 really shakes things up even more. The upgrade path on AMD is very appealing.
