Im planning of upgrading my pc by getting a new graphics card

YaBoyNoXy

Hey, so the deal is that Im currently using gtx 760 and Im not happy about it, newer games just makes me put the graphics on the lowest possible, the pc im using has I5 6600(when i bought it back in the days didn't notice it wasnt overclockable, so dont judge me please), 8gb of ram, 500w psu and as i mentioned before GTX 760, So I want to upgrade the gpu thinking of getting a RTX 2070. Im going to use 1monitor, maybe 2 in the future, I live in the UK, my budget is 400-600(the less the better). I need you help guys help me decide what graphics card to get is the RTX 2070 worth it, will my cpu handle it, will i need a new psu?

The 500W PSU should be fine, I'm currently looking for an upgrade to my GPU aswell, as far as i know the RTX card's aren't the best choice due to the fact that they have a fairly useless feature on them (almost no games use raytracing), they're also new and expensive. In case you're interested, here's a link to my thread.

RTX 2070 doesn''t make sense, it costs too much on top of an RTX 2060 for the performance gain. RTX 2060 is as high as I would go. Equally performing is the Vega 56 & 64, GTX 1070ti and 1080.

What PSU is this? 500w is enough watts for the Nvidia cards even with overclock and a CPU upgrade (not so much Vega, not with the CPU upgrade part) but the quality might not be good enough.

Choose between a GeForce GTX 1660Ti (best for the CPU), an RTX 2060 (fastest your system could handle) or a Radeon RX 570 (if you're aiming for the lowest budget upgrade).

Also, add more RAM.

Didnt like the reviews about 1660 one, so I should go for RTX 2060 and for that extra cash add some ram? I was also thinking of a used 1080ti from ebay but sounds risky for me.

Random 500W psu and a Vega is a bad combination.

yeah the psu is old, from my i3 3rd gen, 550ti, 4gb ram build, thats why I think maybe I need a new one.

Thinking of getting these then, but seems a lil bit expensive, hmm.

Isn't that one of the priciest RTX 2060 models? That's already in the RTX 2070 range if I'm not mistaken, and if it is then it's better to get the 2070.

Also, for the RAM, simply get the same RAM you have. No need to get new 16GB when you can simply add 8GB and have 16GB.

For the PSU, no need for a 750W unit if you're not going with two cards. 550W - 620W would be more than enough, even 450-500W would do for such a system.

You're not replacing the PSU because 500W isn't enough but because the one you have is an older PSU of an unknown brand which means it's probably not reliable.
