Atmos for headphones settings question

I'm curious about proper settings. I have tried google but I cant seem to find a clear answer to my questions. Question 2 is my big question.

 

1. In sound settings when you click "configure speakers" it should be stereo not 7.1 correct?

 

2. When In sound settings i select "properties" and enable dolby atmos spacial sound. When I play a game like metro exodus it has an in game setting as well that is just a check box. Should I enable them both or just 1. And which one?

1. Correct. Atmos doesn't show the device as having 8 speakers like some other virtual surround software do.

 

2. You should enable Dolby Atmos in the sound properties in order for it to work in games, but you have to enable surround in the games too. Without it enabled in the sound properties you can't use it in-game (no matter what you select in the game audio options), but you can use stereo (regular) game audio although having Atmos enabled in the sound properties.
