What are Some of Your More Unusual Collections?

PlayStation 2

Title, what's some things that you collect that are unusual or bizarre? Doesn't have to strictly be IRL things, it can be items in a game or something like that.

I collect... VHS tapes. Anyone who knows me knows that I do, but I collect certain tapes outside of buying some for channel content. What about you?

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

AR15s and 1911s.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

FH4 screenshots because why not.

Also water bottles because I'm too lazy to smash them down and put them out in our recycling.

Pictures of dead Presidents.

All seriousness (?) aside, I used to have an enormous stuffed animal collection. It was taking up so much room in my house (and needed to reclaim it), I started giving them away to the children of friends and neighbors until a hostess at a restaurant I frequent (haunt?) who has become a friend told me her daughter was collecting them for a mission in Mexico so I rounded up most of the dozens of critters I still had (hey, I had to keep a few special ones), put them in a couple of large trash bags, took them with me the next time I went to that restaurant, and gave them to her. The look on her face was priceless. I wish I could have seen the faces of the kids that got them.

One collection I will never part with until they get pried from my cold, dead hands are my tools. I'm an avid a rabid tool junkie. Places that sell tools are my candy stores although tools are much better than candy since they last longer and are sugar free.

I seem to collect whatever I can get my hands on, so that's Hats, Cups, Coins, some Pocket Knives and a few Golf Balls.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

I almost have that many but not "organized" like that; they're just stuffed in boxes. Seriously, the way you have them hanging like that makes it a lot easier to dig through than when in a box.

Darn you! Now you got me thinking of better ways to store and keep track of my cable collection (jungle?). Tie racks? Clothes hangers? (Why did I throw away those empty small wire spools?)

Well you may not see it but behind the cables are shoe organizer for adapters and bricks (I have some outside the closet too)

They are a great way to deal with this as well.

I used to collect M.A.S.K. toys. I have a near-complete collection that's only missing a pair of toys that were only ever released in France.

Aside from that, I tend to hoard unusual things that make me laugh or have some kind of anecdote attached. Like, I have a video tape of Chained Heat 3 that has lorem ipsum as a description on the box cover. I stumbled upon it in a local church's charity shop...

And then there's the carved baby bust that my sister-in-law keeps hiding around the house whenever she's over.

Pokémon cards, videogames, game systems (I am most fond of handhelds) and gaming controllers are things I collect.

Not really something I think is too weird/obscure, but to some the latter are probably the most weird.

Wow! You are a great source of ideas (thank you for that, btw). I have a boat load of empty plastic shoe boxes I used to use for storing (get this) shoes just waiting for a purpose to pop up.

Collecting US quarters. I have all of the state quarters and now collecting the national park ones and other random quarters. I don't go out of my way to get it, just whenever I get one as change.

I guess you can say I'm also starting a custom keyboard and keyboard related accessories collection. I only have two keyboards right now but I have a few keycaps and boutique switches on the way.

I have a collection of about one hundred laser discs. It's a rather small collection compared to some people. Most of them are movies but I have the first season of the X Files on LD and a little over a dozen of live concerts. One of them is a Black Sabbath LD imported from Japan which is really cool IMO. I haven't checked but I wouldn't be surprised if some of these concerts are only available on LD.

For my LD player, I have a Pioneer DVl-700 which apparently is the first LD player to include a DVD player. It was apparently the top model in pioneers standard lineup. They had a step up in its Elite lineup but I guess some people view it as inferior. I know this thing was a $1,200 player (I got it used like five years ago) which is insane. It's just crazy how expensive LD tech was. According to http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/dvl-700.htm it is a really great player.

I'd like to continue to add to my collection and maybe even some more players, like the Japanese players which actually featured multiple disc loading ability so you can put all discs for a movie in and it would swap sides automatically. I particularly want to start collecting Anime LD titles. LD was really big in Japan and a lot of anime made it to the platform. Even though most of it doesn't even have English subs, I just want to collect them for the art. LD was amazing for showing off art with its fold out panels. There is an absolutely amazing Evangelion box set on LD. I'd show a couple pictures or link to it but it has nudity on the front. Go look it up. It's so cool.

That is all on hold right now though. I just don't have the space to be growing my collection.
