It has a va panel. Idk what msi is using to measure response time but from my understanding even the fastest va panels have shit response times. I would personally go ips over va and opt for the Acer monitor I showed.

hey, so i have a "AOC 27" LED FreeSync G2770PF" and a older "AOC 27" LED g2770pqu" both are 1080p and have 144hz

(complete side note: i have no clue if i can use the freesync with my 1080TI

now both basically do, what i want.. BUT i have had them for 4 and 5 years.. and i want something "new" and more fancy..
what i am looking for is better colors, while still allowing high frame rates, i am willing to go down all the way to 100HZ maybe even a little lower, but 60 is too low for my taste.

what will the "new" screen be used for, so as to know what would fit me?
well i am watching twitch, so twitch chat needs to be readable (TEXT) also i read on high contrast backgrounds like the Linus Tech tips forums, so no burn in is important (if thats still a thing)
FPS gaming, general gaming, well.. to say it like this 12+ hours every day 7 days a week gaming.. second screen is to watch people play while i play so i dont feel alone :P
my pc specs are decent i have a 1080ti and i7 6700k(watercooled)

when it comes to pricing i would like to believe i can reach for the upper price range or at least middle upper, but i wouldnt scoff at "upgrading" to a budget monitor if ya'll think it ticks my boxes (witch i dont belive)

So you don't need a better monitor, you just need to tweak the settings on the ones you have.  It's not like you need IPS for editing or content creation.

"to say it like this 12+ hours every day 7 days a week gaming.. second screen is to watch people play while i play so i dont feel alone :P"

Uhm, I know you said it tongue in cheek but that's just kind of sad. Maybe work on being social?  And before you say I'm being a dick and it's none of my business.. you put it out there first.

Wasn't tension before, but now... :)

There a a ton of 1440p 144/165 monitors out there that will love your 1080Ti.  Or even move up to an Ultrawide?

What size and budget are we talking about?

Not sure what you believe to be the upper range, and believing you can reach it never helped my wallet much :)

This would be a good option. Ips for good colors and contrast while having 165hz refreshrate allowing for ultra smooth gameplay. Also 1440p is nice for extra crisp visuals.

what would you say is the main difference between these two and for a gamer what would be the best option while still getting those sweet colors?

I’m in the same boat and the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q 27"165Hz IPS G-Sync Gaming Monitor is what I am saving up for.

I play Rocket League and Skyrim so need a good balance of response, refresh and pretty colours.

I could cheap out and get the TN version.

Reviews are solid across the board.

if you go tn you dont get the vibrant colors but you get the better response time.

@Brooksie359 I’m too old to make use of the TN response time these days, also I’ve had TN monitors since I retired my UHR CRT, those were the days!

Time for me to finally experience something new and move to IPS, even for eSports games like CounterStrike and Rocket League.

I’ve had 144hz monitors now so I’m not going back to 60hz to go 4K so the monitor I chose is my ideal sweet spot.

Lucky you! If you can afford it that is the monitor to go for.

I couldn't even afford the card(s?) to drive that.

I love the monitor and it looks amazing. That being said I still play on my 1080p 240hz monitor that I got for 400 bucks far more often mostly because I play alot of overwatch.
