Since the death of demos I don't object on moral grounds to trying out games before you buy them, by whatever means you so choose.

As a boot wearing, rum drinking, bearded pirate, I say take what you want, give nothing back.

That said, I don't have any games on my current system that I haven't paid for, or have lapsed into the public domain.

Ironically, the only way I can get Forza 7 to even install on PC, which I own on PC and Xbox, let alone to run was to download a cracked copy. I've tried every fix in the book to get it to install off the windows store and it just won't take. However the cracked copy seems to reset my savegame almost every time I play, so i haven't played much.

That said, how many people do you think you're going to get to respond that they're breaking the law, really?

I personally stand behind playing cracked games when it's a console exclusive, since that's a really anti consumer practice and not everyone can afford every console. Since you have access to a PC version, you should fork over the cash.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

If I enjoy the game a lot I usually end up buying the game and DLCs as well.

There's no consensus really.

Personally,  my friend has no problems with cracking games from big developers like EA, but I try to buy indie titles to support the developers.

I don't care, really.

I currently have a cracked copy of FC5 on my system, have had more in the past but I ended up purchasing them.

I will usually end up pirating games to see if they're worth my $25-60. I don't have much scratch to spare, so I don't like wasting. If they are, I will uninstall the cracked version and buy it.

I personally don't, because if I'm inclined to play a game I'll put my money towards it and give the devs the money they earned in enticing me

Though, in the case of Metro Exodus abandoning Steam and going to Epics malware service, I'd actually consider.

I downloaded Metro before I bought it, saw it had no fov at first, played and enjoyed the game though for the first level,..

Bought it on a small sale somewhere for a few dollars less than retail.

I wanted to see how it ran, if there were major bugs involved or anything like that..

Without a demo and Reviewers upgraded beyond My hardware I couldn't get relative good information and some YouTube performance vids still dont show what your after..

I'll happily admit I do this for Most of my purchases of games because these days are not like the old days... GAMES are more rushed than ever.. Sometimes taking Months to gitgoood.

Hard to find Demos if they don't get made

Little do some people know..

Cracked copies also get updates and dlc over time.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Yeah F#ck EA! Bunch of tw@ts, never paying $120 to pre-order a game from them again, BF2 was garbage until it FINALLY got fixed over the past few months.

But on a serious note, I still buy all my games, I prefer just doing things legit. Typically I wait for steam sales, I finally got AC Origins this weekend, normally $70cad got it for $26.

the part that bugs me is with all those PAID DLCs...

cracked games dont have these issue and allows you play offline without any unwanted softwares (denuvo / origin etc)

also consider how much time you will keep on playing it.

finally do you feel comfortable on all the software you bought over the cost of hardware

honestly a game like Metro Exodus is a high-profile crack game because they skipped the Steam store for Epic. plus has denuvo on top, and a dev went out of their way to say they're not gonna deal with PC if it keeps up.

but at the same time, there is still effort blood and tears developing this game i think

LOL i have had to crack bought games just to get them to work as intended to begin with, morality? sure, but do i have morals since the games i have bought physically are used?

It's mostly a big bunch of bullshit to make people pay out more, piracy does not effect them at all.

I used to do this many years back to test if my system can take the game or not. Nowadays since Steam have refund features i usually just issue a refund if the game is broken/unplayable.

It's theft, period. It isn't much different than walking into a convenience store and taking candy off the shelf.

I used to do it all the time. I used to pirate games, music, and movies all the time. Then I finally stopped lying to myself that what I was doing was somehow justifiable. Now I deeply regret my pirate past.

Ugh, I hate this anti-consumer term. In my book, anti-consumer is outright lying to your customers and pulling crap like Bethesda with their memorabilia. I don't see anything anti-consumer about a product only being available on a particular platform. By that logic, it is anti-consumer for game devs not to have a Linux version and require you to use Windows or Amazon to only sell the Kindle on their site.

Now days, people throw around anti-consumer whenever it is something that consumers don't like or find inconvenient. That isn't anti-consumer.

I don't buy this. I admit there is a group of people who if they can't get it for free, they won't buy it either. Sure, no sale lost there but there is a group of people who if they can't get it for free, they will break down and buy it.

Back when I would pirate, if piracy wasn't a viable option for whatever reason, I would buy the content. So yes, my piracy was hurting them because they were losing a sale from me. I have a fair amount of legally purchased games. If I decided I was going to pirate that content instead of buying it, how would that not hurt them?

honestly theres a lot of games in my steam library i wish i had gotten cracked instead. cuz i paid money for expectations and then they turn out shit. the thing is getting cracked games has become harder now than it was back in the day or maybe i just got more impatient. steam download is fast and easy. cracked usually means slow download speeds and alot of parts in zips and all that. its been years since i last got a cracked game. but when i was a kid i had it all. we didnt have money for all the cool games so i found a way. and soon all the kids from my village started asking me to burn them a copy. really the last time i was popular i think. anyway i dont do it anymore but more so for convinience reasons than morality

I've actually gotten too lazy to play cracked games.

Looking back 5-10 years, 80% of my games were cracked. Using steam etc. has become so easy and convenient, I don't see much reason to put in the effort to download cracked versions somewhere.

Another point is that these days pretty much all AAA titles ship only 80% done, with 10 patches coming out the weeks after release. It would be too much of a hastle to get all the cracked patches etc.

So in a sense the gaming industry have done everything right - they made buying/downloading games so convenient that I dont use cracked software anymore ?

Cracking is just a means of defeating the DRM. If I bought the game, then why can't I defeat the DRM?

But since I haven't really had an issue with DRM allowing me to play the games I want to play (with some exception, like the one on Anno 2077), I haven't really seen a desire to crack games. Besides that, I've been growing weary since cracks tended to come from shadier places of the internet and I started counting more times than not the crack triggering virus scan warnings. So I have little reason to believe developers of cracks are playing the Robin Hood game.

I generally avoid cracks, simply because I don't feel that any site or provider I can obtain them through aren't sticking their nasty stuff into my computer and ruining it.

That said, as I did with music before it got way too accessible; check it out free. If it's worth your support, support it. If it's junk, delete it!
