Gateron Reds VS Kailh Box Reds

Midniteb0ne

I'm looking to buy the Anne Pro 2, I can't decide between the Gateron Reds and the Kailh Box Reds.

Ik it is a matter of personal preference but if you can give me any suggestions or describe how it feels to use them it would help me a lot.

Thanks ^^

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Gaterons are known for being particularly smooth, so probably those.

Gatheron switches are supposedly better qualitywise.

I remember reading it somewhere. If I remember correctly, Razer switched from Kailh to Gateron for their keyboards.

Razer switched from Kailh to Greetech, iirc. The Kailh Box switches also claim a lifespan of 80 million actuations, vs 50. They are also IP54 certified, iirc, vs 40, due to the contact point being enclosed in a box.

Sorry, my bad. I confused the names/brands.

So would you recommend that I get the Kailh box reds over the gateron reds.

I don't eat while playing but will the difference between 80million actuations and 50mil matter a lot?

Gateron box reds and gateron reds are much better than cherry switches imo, cherry reds are super scratchy compared to gaterons and box reds, also I wouldn't consider box reds as cherry clones, as kailh's box platform is quite different from cherry mx, only thing the 2 share are the pin arrangements and mount.

Not all cherry clones are the same, take for example, ttc reds and tealios, both are linear cherry mx clones, the tealios are a lot smoother than mx red (not a high bar to beat tho) while the ttcs are scratchy.

Do note that Gaterons specifically earlier versions have quite a bit of stem wobble.

Correct.

OP if you care more about smoothness get the Gateron. If you care about low wobble, Kailh switches are among the best in that regard.

I really don't care about wobble, my current keyboard is crap and I have gotten very used to it.

Thanks :)
