Finally built PC,looking for monitor recommendations

Temuka

Hello everyone,I just finished building my new PC and now choosing monitor is a very big concern. My build is:

Gigabyte Z390 Ultra
RTX 2080 Asus ROG OC
9700k + be quiet Dark Rock Pro 4
16GB DDR4 G.Skill 3200
Samsung 970 Evo + 4TB HDD
Corsair RM850x (2018 edition) + be quiet silent base 800

I play on full HD 60hz and now I want to try 1440p gaming with 144hz monitor.
Mainly I play World of Tanks, but I always play AAA games when they are out, mostly FPS and TPS games.

My desk is 80×140cm and I will sit approx 2 feet from monitor, monitor will be used mainly for gaming, for movies I have 55' 60hz tv.

I can't decide which monitor to buy.Probably 27' will be too small and 32' too big or okay? Also there are 34' UW monitors which makes the choice harder but they are 100-120hz and I don't know if that will be enough by today's standards.

Thanks in advance!

There's not too many choices for 1440p 144hz monitors above 27 inches unfortunately. 27" is kind of the standard there. That being said, There are some options for you, 2 of which are 32 inch monitors, and 2 are 27 inches:

32" Inch:

1. ViewSonic VX3258-2KC-MHD 32" 2560x1440 144hz with AMD Freesync. $376 ------- This Monitor is 1440p and 144hz at 32 inches, but lacks Nvida Gsync or Vesa mount compatibility. @https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1B4-009M-000Z0

2. 1. Acer XZ321QU bmijpphzx 31.5" Curved 2560x1440 144Hz with AMD Freesync. $567 ------ Like the first one, its 1440p 144hz, with no Gsync capability, however it does seem to have Vesa compatibility. At $567 though, it's not a great value, especially since it doesn't have Gsync. But it's an option. @https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G8W76000

27" Inch:

1. Acer Predator XB271HU 27" 2560x1440 144hz (165hz OC) with Gsync. $499 ----- A bit expensive, but looks nice and has good reviews. @https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824011082&Description=monitor&cm_re=monitor-_-24-011-082-_-Product

2. Acer XG270HU 27" 2560x1440 144hz with Gsync. $386 ---- Good monitor, but doesn't seem to be Vesa mount compatible. This is probably your best value here imo. @https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009769&Description=monitor&cm_re=monitor-_-24-009-769-_-Product

If you are ok with 27", I do recommend going that route as imo, they're the better value. Your 32" options are limited from what I could find, but there are a couple options there to pick from. Hopefully this narrows the search for you.

  • 1 month later...
1 month later and believe it or not,I'm still looking what to buy.

There is Samsung CHG70 32' version in my country for 600$

Thing is that returning isn't an option if I just don't like something,it should be defective so I have to buy with confidence. Samsung is using PWM and I don't know will it be hurting eyes or not during gaming sessions, there is no info about Acer regarding PWM,but it's almost half the price of samsung...

I know that buying monitor is the most difficult in PC part picking but am I missing any nice monitors bigger that 27 which are worth buying or maybe some upcoming models or should I try 27'? UW isn't an option for me because of weird short height.

I'm open to any recommendations, thanks folks.
