Linus Replies to Mean Comments

Recommended Posts

@Lathlaer said, and I quote, "at one point or another", they didn't say in that single video.

Linus addressed their shitty thumbnails in a video literally titled "$h!tty Thumbnails on Linus Tech Tips" ffs ?

Yeah and their response was essentially, "It makes us money, so F off."

No respect for the audience that got them "famous" in the first place. Simply about money. And still no response to anything else I mentioned, or would you like to continue ignoring those comments like he did?

It's a response, whether you like it or not.

They have responded to other kinds of criticism before in one form or another, maybe you'd know that if you actually watched those videos instead of judging him based on one particular video.

Please point me to the video where he addresses anything else I mentioned in that post.

Most of them were addressed in WAN shows, but here's a playlist of videos answering questions/some criticism.

I've watched all of those videos before. None of them discuss the change in direction for LTT after becoming LMG, nor their change in audience from tech people to kids.

Like I said, they talked about that in a WAN show, iirc

Sure they did.

Because everyone is fond of watching an hour long "show" of two guys trying to be funny in front of a camera while "discussing" tech "news" in an unscripted, not funny manner. Not everyone here is a fanboy.

You do you.

Edit: By the way, I do agree with you on some points, like the sponsored vids and whatnot (I especially hate it when they spew wrong information on tech quickie, for example), but at the same time, I won't just slander them for things they did right (or lack there of, I guess)

and how it is no longer a good tech channel

To me LTT was always an Entertainment Channel, that does tech.

And that is why they are so sucessful because nobody else does it that way, the other ones do Tech. Linus entertains us.

It was not only in the video but his own employees clapped in agreement. All the toxicity is coming from Linus. You don't hear any other employees telling Linus to "shut up" do you? Employers have a resonsiblity to provide a safe working environment

I hope you are joking.  You guys have no clue what real Toxic Work Places are like.

No I have no evidence that they are in fact mentally hurting, but there is the evidence of abuse coming from management. If the inappropriate comments were a two way street I'd be more inclined to believe its just for fun and jokes but no one talks that way back to Linus. They just seem to either go silent with no reply or try to laugh it off. Laughing things off is a forum of the brain trying to cope with what is happening.

Every other video they joke about Linus's genitals, his footwear, his way of handling products, his voice and plenty of other things... you're just cherry picking, and if there were real workplace abuse you wouldn't see it in the videos.

And don't worry, I don't watch them. I just watched this one to see if he'd respond to actual criticism or just try to make it "funny."

My guess as to which it'd be was confirmed.

They already answered the thumbnail and title criticism in other videos. You obviously don't care though - you'd only accept a complete disappearance of the """clickbait""" thumbnails and titles. There's no point in arguing with someone who refuses to consider the other's point of view.

This video was just for fun. It's literally Linus responding to mean comments, as the title says.

Sauron'stm Product Scores:

Spoiler

Just a list of my personal scores for some products, in no particular order, with brief comments. I just got the idea to do them so they aren't many for now :)

Don't take these as complete reviews or final truths - they are just my personal impressions on products I may or may not have used, summed up in a couple of sentences and a rough score. All scores take into account the unit's price and time of release, heavily so, therefore don't expect absolute performance to be reflected here.

-Lenovo Thinkpad X220 - [8/10]

Spoiler

A durable and reliable machine that is relatively lightweight, has all the hardware it needs to never feel sluggish and has a great IPS matte screen. Downsides are mostly due to its age, most notably the screen resolution of 1366x768 and usb 2.0 ports.

-Apple Macbook (2015) - [Garbage -/10]

Spoiler

From my perspective, this product has no redeeming factors given its price and the competition. It is underpowered, overpriced, impractical due to its single port and is made redundant even by Apple's own iPad pro line.

-OnePlus X - [7/10]

Spoiler

A good phone for the price. It does everything I (and most people) need without being sluggish and has no particularly bad flaws. The lack of recent software updates and relatively barebones feature kit (most notably the lack of 5GHz wifi, biometric sensors and backlight for the capacitive buttons) prevent it from being exceptional.

-Microsoft Surface Book 2 - [Garbage - -/10]

Spoiler

Overpriced and rushed, offers nothing notable compared to the competition, doesn't come with an adequate charger despite the premium price. Worse than the Macbook for not even offering the small plus sides of having macOS. Buy a Razer Blade if you want high performance in a (relatively) light package.

-Intel Core i7 2600/k - [9/10]

Spoiler

Quite possibly Intel's best product launch ever. It had all the bleeding edge features of the time, it came with a very significant performance improvement over its predecessor and it had a soldered heatspreader, allowing for efficient cooling and great overclocking. Even the "locked" version could be overclocked through the multiplier within (quite reasonable) limits.

-Apple iPad Pro - [5/10]

Spoiler

A pretty good product, sunk by its price (plus the extra cost of the physical keyboard and the pencil). Buy it if you don't mind the Apple tax and are looking for a very light office machine with an excellent digitizer. Particularly good for rich students. Bad for cheap tinkerers like myself.

May I remind you once again that this kind of behavior in a workplace business setting is very inappropriate and that LTT has a responsibility to ensure a safe work place environment. This isn't playing touch football on the weekends with the guys.

Linus literally spent 10's of hours and thousands of dollars to make a "hang out" for the employees of LMG. I think thats a pretty decent boss. (Edit) Also if my boss provided a Big Funking Gaming Display and a dolby atmos surround setup, i would be pretty happy. Lol. Linus is a good guy. Clumsy, But good.

If you have any questions about ultra high end audio (Or any speakers or audio gear!), don't be afraid to shoot me a message, or mention me.

Spent over 700k on audio gear, still trying to increase sound quality.

So if your boss spends a lot of money to make a hang out, he is allowed to treat people in a toxic manner?

Since when has linus been toxic towards LMG employees.. He literally asked the editors if he could shut down the server for a while, i find that pretty considerate, he does make jokes yes, he does act a bit mean sometimes yes, but the employees return this behaviour. They are all mature people (questionable), wanting to laugh and mess around a bit in the work place, he doesn't force them to work in terrible conditions, it isnt a very serious place to work, they have fun. If linus was as toxic as you say he is, I really don't think he would be as successful as he is.

They applauded when he read the post when it said he better stop acting the way he has been or he will start losing employees. It was a cry for help.

"A cry for help" if they were that upset, they would quit.

Maybe they need the money to support their family. I also work in a toxic environment quite like this. I can't just up and quit my job.

Just because he spends money on his employees you have no idea how it feels to be treated the way he treats his employees. I also wonder if that is even appropriate for a employer to do. It could also mean hush money for sweeping his office antics under the rug.

I am so confused. I dont get how he treats them badly. He let them decorate his room, the editing den, he barely got mad when some pallets were left leaning up against the new wall in the warehouse. He barely has control over them sometimes.

Everything you are saying is material objects. I can be very cruel to my wife (I would never) and then go out and buy her flowers and a diamond ring, so to you I would be even?
