What psu is recommended

jrhd13

I'm purchasing these parts and the psu doesn't really jump out at me I'm only using it for kodi and retro games with kodi and retroarch. I've gone on pc partpicker and thats one of the psu they recommended. I've also gone on to cooler master psu calculator and they recommended a 400w. What do you guys recommend?

That 500watt will do you nicely, especially if you ever want to upgrade to a 1050ti, or a 1060 3gb/6gb.

I would also not recommend not skimping or cheaping out on your PSU, get a MasterWatt 550w, or any other main brand like Corsair, Cooler Master, etc.

not going sketch on your psu like that one

around 400 you get the better units, not that you need it wattagewise, but you do qualitywise

btw, why waste your money on a 1030?

Get a CX450 instead of that 500W, guaranteed to cause a fire with that

Like others have said, that does not look to be a great PSU. No warranty information, no-name company, and what you can see of the insides from the picture of the back of the unit looks...light. Probably a Chinese firecracker. The CX450/CX450M is a great alternative that is seemingly always on sale somewhere.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

It'll make you jump when it pops.

From what I can see of it, it looks like absolute crap. Which is to be expected when it costs 16 pounds.

2x SATA

2x molex

And most important in 2019 a cable for your floppy disk drive.

What are the full specs of the system you're building?

I'm with @LukeSavenije... Why buy the gt 1030? Grab a 2200g as the CPU instead and use integrated Vega graphics.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

you're thinking about the green label cx up to the 650 watt. the cx and cxm gray are quite similar

I've got an i3 4130 at the moment and 8gb ddr3.

Would this psu be any good?

No, go for the CX450M or CX450

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

More that it looks like it's group regulated, but for 16 pounds I guess that's a given. Plus the lack of useful cables like 8pin EPS12v and any PCIe cables. Though that's probably a safety feature to stop you from powering anything of value with it.

Still not a very good PSU, but a lot better than the one you had picked before.

Normally I wouldn't recommend it, but for what you're powering it'll probably be fine.

If you can afford a better PSU like the Corsair cx450/m which had been suggested by others, then get that instead of the EVGA.
