Strange Overclocking ?

(first time posting)
Hey, I tried overclocking my gpu (palit 980ti) and something weird keeps happening. I use my benchmarks and such while overclocking and the thing works like a charm. Until I put a game on that is. I have 2 monitors, a 1080p 60hz and a 1440p 150 hz. I always benchmark on the 1440p one. When in game the second screen randomly turns green-ish and stops working, after a while, or if I alt-tab the whole pc freezes and i have to restart. If i remove the oc everything goes back to normal though. What could be going on?
Thank you for your time :)

sounds like your overclock isn't quite stable, dial it back until the symptoms disappear

I tried to do what you said, but it was unstable even at +10 core +20 mem (did that just to test i know it wouldn't make a difference)

might be a driver issue then, get ddu (display driver uninstaller) and remove the graphics drivers then reinstall. Hope it helps

problem seems persistent through updates, would uninstalling work ?

well, it won't hurt anything at least. The only other suggestion I have is to trigger an event then open event viewer, under windows logs->system and look for an error around the time you triggered it. If it created an error log it may have some helpful information. Or you may have got a silicon lottery dud and you just have to leave it at stock settings
