Huh? I thought we age because our gene aged? How does environment come into this? If we dump old and young into the same environment, the young is still likely to outlive the old.

The cellular environment. Genes do not age.

But how? What led to old people to have more junks in their body?

Just byproducts of cellular activities. They accumulate over time and cannot be  broken down normally by the body.

So if we remove all these byproducts, we get to live forever?

No, just until something kills us.

Funnily enough, scientific proof that global warming is man-made has just reached the scientific "golden standard".  This means there's a 1 in a million chance that global warming isn't man-made.

Sure, there have been colder and hotter periods in the past 5-ish billion years, but the temperatures never went up as fast as the do nowadays (and by that I mean in the last century).

Whoa, thought for sure this would get locked. . .

†

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

See, the way I see it is that, to me anyways, it's way too politicized by everyone for me to rationally believe any single conclusion.

Whether or not it's actually real in the sense that humans accelerate it, I dunno, but there's too much political bullshit and dirty ass money thrown to either conclusively say that we do or that we don't for me to really believe anything.

Climate change is 100% proven by scientific data.

The only thing that's argued about (in America, mostly) is whether our use of fossil fuels is to blame or it's a natural thing happening to the planet regardless of what we do. The entire crapstorm is a political thing, really.

What is you? What defines you as you? For all I know, we are just a huge bunch of biochemical reactions between none living matters.

By the time we are dead, we have replaced all our cells in our body many times as older cells undergo mitosis, die, and new cells take their place.

By the time we die, all the original matters and mass that make up our bodies when we were mere infants would've long been lost and replace by all the milk we drink, all the food we eat as we grow and age.

By this regard, aren't we already a copy? Aren't we all fake?

No, we're a single conciousness and the biological process you've described has two key differences:

  1. At the end, there aren't two unique instances of the same personality.
  2. Machines lack consciousness, you made an AI that'll act somewhat like you, maybe.

What is consciousness except for a bunch of chemical reactions between neurons? without biological process, you have no conciseness and biological process replenishes its own cells and all the molecules and chemical within it so you are a copy. Each of your cells and tissues is not the original you back when you were a baby. Each of your cells is a long descendant of one single embryo back when you are still in your mother's womb, not the embryo itself.

There is no such thing as a copy vs original. There is no difference between you with a biological body and a body whose cellular functions are completely replaced by machinery just as there is no difference between you whose cells are young when you were a baby and whose cells are old and long descendants of cell divisions that were used to replace all the dysfunctional cells later in your life. You are already a copy.

Star trek teleporter works by destroying the original human into beams of energy, beam its information back to the ship, and use all that information to reconstruct the human. No one ever complains it is not original.

define the real "self". Lets say we can grow and recover each part of our severed body like that of Earthworms. i lose my head, i regrow my body back. My body now without a head, regrows its head back. Now, which one is the real me?

Im talking conciousness.

Say you want to replace you frontal lobe of your brain. To do so you create a machine/pc/whatever that replicate its signals. If you then run both the new lobe and old lobe at the same time and both output the same signals. Would you loose you conciousness if you remove the old lobe?

Because to the rest of the human body the old lobe never dissapeared

Repeat with the rest and you are essentislly the exact same person who never lost conciousness in the period of transision
