The memory I'm looking at is GSkill Aegis 8GB 3000Mhz CL16, oh and an hyper212 cooler aswell...

So if I get 2 sticks and OC could it be better vs 750Ti?

I'd say probably, or at the very least it would be close. Not to mention that with those components you aren't stuck on a dead platform. You could also add a more powerful graphics card at a later date for better performance than the 2500 could ever give you.

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right thread but here it goes...

I'm a Computer Science student and I'm in a need of a Desktop computer.

I'm trying to decide between an old system or build a brand new.

The used computer has the following specs;

i5 2500k, 16GB DDR3 Ram, GTX750 Ti, 500GB HDD and case

(need to buy a powersupply)

Total ~330euros (~400 after the powersupply)

Or should I buy everything new, with potential for upgrades in the future?

Something along the lines of;

Ryzen 5 2400G, 8GB DDR4 Ram, 480GB SSD, B450 MB, CM Silencio case and Seasonic 520W 80+ Bronze Modular Powersupply

Total  ~480euros

The computer is both for programming, gaming and maybe streaming games like AoE II HD, CSGO, League...

You can't find a better deal than that? Seems like a pretty bad price for an old PC.

The first one is a massive rip off for that price, and the iGPU in a 2400g is just barely slower than a 750 Ti, and can be made to beat it if you get some quick memory or overclock what memory you get.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Go used if you can find a good deal, but I wouldn't pay more than $200 for the system you listed, and that's if I was desperate...

If those are your only two options, get the new system.

Don't get the Hyper 212, it's not a great cooler.

If you're getting a single stick of RAM, you're going to hamper the AMD CPU's performance.

The 750Ti is pretty old, so I imagine it'd be close. Check out some reviews online.

What would be a better cooler in about the same price range?

Just use the stock one included with the CPU.

Or the CryOrig H5. Though, the stock one should suffice. Then save for something better.
