Can you guys check over my build?

Hi, 

 

After many, many revisions this is what I've come to. Do you guys have any recommendations? Will the cpu cooling be adequate? BTW, I want to mount the cpu colling rad on the top, so, if I change the size of the rad I have to change the case. I'm right on the tip of my budget here, I can't really afford to spend even 30 quid more. I'm going to get an SSD in the near future.

The PSU have only 1 plug for the CPU, as you need 2 on the motherboard

are you basing your choice for that graphics card on the boost clock numbers on scan.co.uk?

(if so then heres the same numbers on a cheaper card (£190 cheaper): https://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-aorus-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-xtreme-11gb-gddr6-vr-ready-graphics-card-4352-core-1770mhz-core-c)

There's nothing "wrong" with the build... but personally I would wait to see what Zen 2 brings, and definitely wouldn't drop £1400 on a GPU, but that's my personal preference.

I found that the cards with the highest overclock were the Lightning Z and the FTW 3. They are around the same price except the MSI has a screen on the side. There for, the Lightning Z is better value. 

 

Also, the fact that I can say "my gpu clocks above 2000 Mhz" ?

lol, yeah ok I can respect that. It's alot of money spent for bragging writes but go for it if you want.

just bear in mind the extra cost here vs the "ooo lookie, it purdy nice" factor ?

why not go for a 80+ Gold Power supply instead of a Platinum Grade, theres not really much difference in terms of efficiency.

I'm told the Lightning Z needs to have an efficient power supply, every little helps.

Well I'd personally say 80+gold would be enough, especially with a SeaSonic powersupply.

You dont get better than those guys, and these 2 are cheaper.

That build is all over the place.

 

The Lightning isn't going to give you £300 of extra performance over any other 2080 ti. The Gigabyte Gaming OC has a longer warranty of 4 years, and UK RMA support. 

 

So £260 or so cheaper overall with a 1TB SSD and 2TB HDD and a better cooler. 

 

You don't need a Platinum psu. Not sure where you heard that info from but it is wrong.

The Corsair unit will be a lot quieter. 

 

Any of the Aorus boards are fine. If he wants wifi then the one in the spec is good.
