Upgrade from a laptop too a desktop

Shaaw

Hey!

So I´m looking to build a new system and i would like to hear some opinions on the parts I have picked.

But first this is not a high-end build I have limited funds to put in to this, it´s going to be a family/gaming PC.

These are the parts I have choosen so far:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 W Spire

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2x8GB 3200MHz Red

Corsair Force MP300 120GB M.2 NvMe

EVGA BQ Semi-Modulärt 650W 80Plus Bronze

MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB

I have an old case so I´m going to use that, would like some sugestions on a future purches ;)

Also I have some old harddrivers and SSDs at home so the M.2 drive is just for the OS.

With that out of the way, the questions I have is, can i change some of the parts to get the price down but not the preformence?

AMD vs Nvidia? B450 vs B350 or other chipsets?

The build is somwhat themed but that is not the most important part for me, it´s nice if I can keepit that way tho.

Thanks in advance!!

good, but a 2600 will be a little better

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

i would swap it for a b450 pro4 for example

5 minutes ago, Shaaw said:

Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2x8GB 3200MHz Red

good option, could step down to 3000

5 minutes ago, Shaaw said:

Corsair Force MP300 120GB M.2 NvMe

would look into the crucial p1

EVGA BQ Semi-Modulärt 650W 80Plus Bronze

nah, get something else

MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB

think about getting a rx 580 if they're cheaper

yes

AMD vs Nvidia?

depends on price

b450 because it's less rushed and works natively with 2000 series

i can make something up, preferences, location (country) and preferences?

Dont go with ryzen 1st gen, check out the second gen or maybe even wait for the 3rd gen. What is your budget?

Ok think I can work that in, 900-1000 USD

any reason why youre going for a R5 1600 and not a newer 2600 ?

but if youre using a 1600 you can go with a b350 chipset and be fine

you could also possibly get an rx 580 8gb rather than a 1060 6 gb, at least where i am theyre a bit cheaper and very similar in performance

CPU: i5-4690k @ 4.4 GHz | RAM: 12GB DDR3 1333MHz | GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 580 4GB

Thanks!! will work in the 2600, and keep the b450 mobo.

I live in Sweden, and like the MSI red but that is less important.

Ah NVME is cleaner if you cant see it on the motherboard, most cases have a ssd spot that is hidden.

I'm using partpicker but I am not that familiar with these forums so I have no idea how to load a partpicker list into the LTT forums.
