MSI RTX 2070 not responding

Phemmi

Hi, my recently built PC's Graphic card suddenly stopped working. I re-installed the drivers but there was no change in the screen resolution. The Nvidia control panel won't start up, I have no sound and I have artifacts on the monitor sometimes (especially when starting up).

Tips on the internet suggests that my PSU Wattage is not adequate. Coolermaster Outervision suggested I get 1800W PSU. Can anyone help cross check this is the right PSU specification I require?

a 1800W Power Supply? what the hell are you trying to power up? a mining rig with 10 RX 580?

Seriously you can't even find proper DYI Power supplies of that wattage, it tops at 1600W for the most part.

A RTX 2070 only needs a 550W unit by all means.

I have the MSI 2070 Armor combined with a 600W PSU. I think you have a way too large PSU for a normal build.

But I doubt that this is the reason for the missing response by the GPU. But in case this is true, can you try it out with another PSU first maybe from a friends computer?

If this will work fine you have your answer. If it works your PSU is too much for this or the GPU is broken and you should return it.

Your problem is not with the power supply.

Did you DDU in safe mode before reinstalling drivers? tried different cables? if any thing return the GPU as it's overpriced garbage, it costs the double of a RTX 2060 but offers 3% more performance on best case scenario and honestly speaking it's a bad pair with the i9 9960X behemoth.

Also cooling an i9 9960X with a cheap ass 240mm AiO is cringy

No , I didn't DDU in safe mode. How do I do that?

I had to clear the CMOS now to get into the BIOs and I can see that the GPU is not registered.

The cooling is actually Corsair CW-9060031-WW Hydro Series H150i PRO RGB Liquid . I forgot I initially bought the Cooler Master but never used it. What cooling system will you recommend?
