Ammo Can Rev. 2 (Electric Boogaloo)

Ωhmbreon

It's coming back and it's gong to be better than ever before. Some new features of this one will be:

- Aesthetics

- RGB

- Water cooling (CPU only)

- Support for a triple slot GPU

- BETTER PARTS, no more low power i5s or budget graphics cards

This is going to become my next system, so most likely it will be completed sometime over the summer since I am not quite ready to part with my main system yet. (Plus I'm kinda waiting to see how the power efficiency of next-gem processors stacks up).

Parts will be (so far):

- ITX motherboard

- Triple slot GPU

- Flex ATX power supply

Thicc 92mm radiator

It is still relatively early stage, but I am working on a design, which is now in it's second layout, and should be completed shortly.

What size ammo can are you going to use

I'm just using the standard .50 caliber. I've done one before, it's just not as pretty:

Here's some pictures of what's (most likely) the final design. It's significantly more simple than the last one.

It's just Sketchup. The parts in there are from the "warehouse" while I made the case and put those parts in.

This is the ammo can I'm going to use. It has thinner walls but they are straighter and the lid takes less force to close.

Yeah it's a bad picture but I have no power at the moment so I can't really see.

This project may not go anywhere for some time, as I have a couple other projects going on currently, and I need to finish them. I'm still working on the paper version and looking for water-cooling parts.

Oh and also a reminder that these designs are mine. You can use them for yourself but not for commercial use without my permission.

It's not.

I'm keeping all the stuff in the can, including fans. I have with the previous one as well.

That one looks really old too, the lighting isn't even led.

Due to me underestimating the complexity of some ongoing projects and unexpected obligations, I have delay the project. I'm not sure how long it will be delayed for, but I was hoping to start it in May but that does not seem to be the case. My fault for trying to have four projects going at once.

I will be able to work on it in the summer since I can have access to a waterjet cutter and a mig welder.

Overall, I've chosen out a couple parts, which are still subject to change, and I've made minor tweaks to the design for better cable routing and structural integrity.

If you're wondering what the other three projects I was trying to do at the same time were, they are a steel RGB lamp, giant steel model plane, and a turbojet, and they got complicated fast.

I will be switching from a .50 caliber to a fat .50 caliber ammo can to give me extra room. As much I I'd like a 7 liter box of power, I need the extra room for a beefier power supply and extra cooling capacity. I would like to be able to overclock the heck out of it too, and just 500 watts from a Flex ATX power supply was not enough. If Zen 2 and Navi are somehow uber power efficient, if they are good at all, then I might stick with the original design.

Actually, I am getting rid of this project.

But!

I'm replacing it with a stainless steel slim mATX scratch-built case to build. The CAD design is nearly finished at this point. I'll post a link to it in a little bit as well as an explanation.
