Need help on choosing the right surge protector

One of my relative lives in a country where he often experience a brown out or spikes.

Just yesterday he lose his 1050 Ti because of that, The PCIE slot got burned along with the GPU around the Slot.

So he want to get another GPU but he will buy surge protector to prevent that from happening again.

He will only use it for his PC which is an i5 6500 and GTX 1050 Ti with 550 Seasonic focus PSU.

 

However neither me or him are electric engineer and we have no idea the differences between these two.

They both being sell at a similar price though..

The APC P5B GR and PM1W GR.

The differences are the P5B GR has 5 Outlet instead of 1 on the PM1W and the other differences from the spec sheet is (which we have no idea what it means)

Recommend him an UPS device strong enough for the PC (800VA 480W should be OK). It will keep the PC safe dring power variation and even in the case of a power outage.

I tried but he doesnt have enough money for that

Any high-quality Surge Protector will work, just make sure it's the first thing that's plugged into the wall and everything else goes into it. I'm thinking that all surge protectors are the same with the exception of probably USB ports or extra buttons.

Now that you mentioned it, So if i bought the 2nd one that only has one outlet and plug it into one the slot of a 5 power strip outlet then its going to be useless? i mean..i dont think there's much of a difference if i did that..the current just run through the power strip right? its still the same current.

Yep..big power strip? but that wont protect surges or are u referring to a big surges protector with multiple slot?
