My PC Build!!! DNGDave

DNGDave

Hey Linus and the community!

I'm new to Linus tech tips. I love the shows. I was thinking about building myself a new computer but to find good pricing on parts is hard. My budget is around 1500$ CAD for a gaming PC.

Please let me know if any of you have any ideal's.

Thank you

David Mailloux (DNGDave)

Do you need mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc?

If not, whats your current monitor?

I plan on gaming on my tv @ 1080P with 60 Hrz Refresh rate.

Then get something similar to what @Sorenson said, but swap the power supply out for an EVGA G2, Seasonic FOCUS, or RMx unit.

@Slottr @Sorenson

Get it off eBay for a few dollars, don't buy it at full price.

To change countries in PCPartPicker, click the country in the top right, and choose the country.

Also, you can't just convert money like that. PC parts are overpriced in Canada, and some parts available in the US are not available in Canada.

Would it be better to get the 2600X? Does the X mean overclockable?

Sorry man I didn’t see the notification sooner. The 2600 and 2600x are pretty much the same CPU.

That at said the 2600x comes at a higher base and boost frequency out of the box, I believe it comes with a better stock cooler, and it is a higher binned chip. If you plan on overclocking a lot, the 2600x is a better cpu for it. If you want to do basic overclocking the 2600 with a decent air cooler might be better. Although, if you don’t feel comfortable with overclocking the 2600x gives you better out of the box performance.
