Personally, no. Which is why I'm grateful that my school system didn't give it to everyone, just those that maintained high grades.

"thinly veiled sham"...lol.  With all the issues in our public school system, it is sickening that this is what has people upset.  Zero perspective by most people posting in this thread.  I wish people would actually focus this much on the issues that actually have a negative impact on children's educations.

Wasting money on something with no educational value as if it were something with educational value kinda highlights a fairly big issue in our public school system, that it squanders money.

 

At least with the end of the year thing, it theoretically teaches that if you work hard, you get rewarded.

Using that logic, one could argue that showing children expensive products that it takes hard work to earn does the same...

That sounds like a societal parenting issue, not an educational system one.
