ANC?

In Linus' recent video about the ANC monitor he mentions his first(and incorrect) assumption that the monitor's microphones might be used to make the users headphones ANC even if they aren't naturally. I've gotta ask, is it possible to do that with any software or hardware solutions? Or even what the monitor does of making your microphone ANC too?
