Some Build Advice

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Thinking of my first build.

Heres the specs I am planning

CPU:       Ryzen 5 2400 G

MOBO:    Asus Prime A320M-K

RAM:       16GB Vengeance RGB 2666Mhz DDR4

GPU:        MSI Radeon RX 570 8GB Armor OC

COOLER: Gamdias hione All-In-One CPU liquid Cooler (120MM)

CASE:      Coolermaster Masterbox Lite

M.2:          ADATA 256GB SSD (For OS)

SSD:        Kingston 960 GB SATA SSD (for programs and games)

HDD:        (2x4TB) Seagate Baracuda SATA HDD 4TB (fo movies, music and so on)

FANS:      2x Gamdias RGB 120MM case fans

SCARD:   ASUS Xonar PCI-e 5.1 gaming soundcard.

Build will be used for 1080P gaming and workstation use. I will have 2 or 3 monitors not yet decided. 5.1 channels sound system, Headset and so on.

I don't need or can afford 4k monitors so not really necessary. But 60+ FPS 1080P gaming would be nice

Games: GTA 5, Saints Row, Crysis, Left 4 Dead, Sims 4, Planet Coaster, CS go and such.

Workstation: Day job as CAD designer house plan drawing and so on. Also 3D renders of houses.

Cotent Creation: light photoshop and MAGIX Music maker and such.

Advice on build improvements and advice, Where I might have gone wrong. and can improve performance without upping the budget..

Okay will check on most of that.

I have 3 storage drives because that Mobo supports M.2 so i can have a OS SSD M.2, a SSD for games and programs and HDD for movies and such.

Will scratch the AIO Cooler thats a big pricecut.

GPU: what is the problem there? Is that a bad card?

Soundcrad for speaker system, but have been told it is not needed.

It is also to be know i will not overclock anything,

just for your info: m.2 is a formfactor, nvme is the faster one. that should be able to do on the b450(m) pro4

with the money you gained, get a 2600

gpu: yes, worse cooler than most cards

soundcard will not be needed, and the money gained can be invested to make that 570 a 580 for example

then I would still highly recommend a b450 board over a a320

Yeah I know sorry about that just from work and a bit tired. Yes NVME m.2 SSd. for the OS.

So the 580 with 8GB vram then? That 570 had 8gb vram too.

I will check out the other mobo. it is double the price but a quick read it seams to support the same drives, cpu and so on. But mst importantly the one I found has RGB (that's a huge performance boost). You als said faster RAM? how will that help??

ah okay... i would suggest looking around for the crucial p1, they seem to be pretty cheap

yes, it's a nice gain imo

you want rgb? the pro4 doesn't have any on it, but it does have a couple rgb headers (iirc)

vrms is what in the end counts on the mobo, so it's safe to let me check it

ryzen highly benefits from higher speed ram, the difference between 2400 and 3000 can be 20 fps sometimes

The P1 is double the size but slower in read and write:

The P1

https://www.evetech.co.za/crucial-p1-500gb-nvme-ssd/best-deal/5279.aspx?gclid=CjwKCAiAkrTjBRAoEiwAXpf9CeocaMHuKKJby68qc4gcq4DFTK2n7KL5cGbTzdZ3XS_Xl-5C9uJL4xoCIrQQAvD_BwE

The one i was planning

https://www.evetech.co.za/xpg-sx8200-pro-256gb-pcie-m-2-2280-ssd/best-deal/5234.aspx

Since I only want to use it for the OS even the 256GB is proably to much want 120GB if that will be enough for the OS.

RGB is a benefit on the components, planning RGB case lighting as the main lighting plus the fans also RGB.

Also have some sleeved cables since I have a window

https://www.evetech.co.za/bitfenix-alchemy-2-0-evg-psu-cable-kit-black-yellow/best-deal/4556.aspx

Will up the RAM speed then.

Is that mobo dual channel ram or qaud channel ram?

GPU

The one I was planning:

https://www.evetech.co.za/msi-rx-570-8gb-armor-oc-edition/best-deal/3810.aspx

The one i think i should rather have then:

https://www.evetech.co.za/gigabyte-aorus-radeon-rx-580-8gb/best-deal/2700.aspx

would that gpu be better if so i can see so it is not such a big price jump.

whats tcl and qcl?
so in your opion i should rather not bother with nvme for the os and just put it on the main sata ssd?

there will be 3 RGB fans and 1 or 2 light strips.

will check out those mobo's

i just want 16GB as Linus once said it enough for the everyday user (i think not sure will have to re-watch that vid)

will ugrade the GPU then.

did not think of all this when i started out, you are helping a lot, thank you.

a dram type, tcl stores 3 values per chip, qcl 4, but is a bit slower

I would say for most usecases a cached sata ssd (like the 860 evo and mx500) will do you pretty well

ah, I would look into the cooler master mb511, that might be ideal for you

Okay in the end will cut out the nvme ssd for now maybe upgrade later.

Yes that case although more expensive, it includes RGB fans which i will cut from my list.

HaHa been keeping you busy.

will draw up a excel sheet to show the diffrences really want to see what i get to save.

i would suggest to look into the psu tier list down my signature, and select at least a 450 watt tier c or higher

antac isn't that bad... i just never seen it before

i would suggest to look into the psu tier list down my signature, and select at least a 450 watt tier c or higher

That psu is 850W but i can have a corsair 750W For a little less.

tier c? whats that?

But how do i figure out how much power my psu should have?

you would have enough with a good 450, but you can take a 550 if you want to be sure. tier c is a tier in that psu tier list 3.0 link in my signature. the best way is to look up reviews of some parts, you can easily found power usage in it

i would definitely thoose the cxm out of those

tho once again, you really don't need 650, 550 or even 450 is enough, as that system will pull around 300 watts

Just been looking around, whats is the G for on the CPU name, i found the same CPU but without a G in the name and it costs less.

https://www.pcshopper.co.za/amd-ryzen-5-2600-processor.html

G is for intergrated graphics. this one actually has 2 more cores and 4 more threads

Okay to tier d then...

Which do you think then as I am clearly incapable of picking one?

https://www.pcshopper.co.za/desktops/storage-components/power-supplies

https://www.evetech.co.za/PC-Components/corsair-power-supply-78.aspx

So since i will have a gpu won't the g-less one be better?

more threads and cores for 3d renders? or gaming?

this one is pretty good from my personal experience

the one without g will be better already, because you don't have to share pcie lanes in a intergrated gpu, and the display output comes out of the gpu anyway. more cores and threads in gaming is getting more important these days, many games can utilize 8 cores already

Okay change made, and it is less expensive which is even better

scrapping the sleeved cables as the cables are already black from that psu

cpu change made too.

Is that a atx board  and case or matx (matx i smaller i think)

is there a huge differnece between the two price and perfomence. if it is not then don't really care.

I hope this config will be good for several years. don't need to upgrade soon i hope.
