What companies are good now days

My mom's 2011 era HP computer has been having video issues and I think its pretty much toast that this point. What pre built brands are good? She wants something she can walk in to a store and pickup that day. So I need to know what brands are good and what brands to avoid. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I have never had a problem with Dell (Not alienware, just Dell) because I find that they have excellent customer service. But this is a very "YMMV" topic.

Choose model not brand, brand only important when it comes to after sales

Went on ASUS, Dell, and Lenovo's websites. Not really liking anything. We are going to hit a few stores over the weekend to see what they have. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Powerspec has been pretty solid. They use off the shelf parts and offer a pretty decent value overall.

Issue is. It has to be a brand I can walk in to a store and walk out with. She wants a computer and quick.

Assuming you have a microcenter near you they are usually well stocked.

No. Nearest one is in Madison Heights which is like an hour away.

It may be worth the drive.

 

If your stores are like ours, then it's either drive to microcenter, or settle for one of the 3 or 4 hp models walmart carries, or one of the 1-2 models bestbuy carries outside of the ridiculous alienware model they keep in stock.

 

Prebuilts are pretty hard to find in store around here.

My entire family  (except me, I select the parts in local shops)  is using Dells. Never a problem, zero noise issues, rock solid, good performance. Seems as if they were thoroughly tested in the lab or sth... Or might be my impression with all the machines I've dealt with ( 6, and a lot at latest company I worked at). but I agree, YMMV.
