1440p 144z 24inch or 27inch???

I've been looking at 1440p monitors to upgrade from 1080p 24" 144hz. i sit about 2-3ft away from the screen. i've been looking at the Dell S2417DG 24" and the Dell S2716DGR 27". im not sure how big the difference is in size for 1440p.

maybe someone can tell me what i should be looking for when upgrading.  Also are these Dell monitors any good?

27 inches at that distance. I have a 27inch 1440p at the same distance and its perfect.

The monitors you're looking at are very good. 

I'd definitely go for the 27" if I were you, because I feel like you're not making the most out of 1440p on 24".

24" is perfect for 1080p. For 1440p I'd recommend 27".

I recently bought a 27-inch 1440p 144Hz monitor and coming from a 21.5-inch monitor, it's a big step, however, the bigger screen is appreciated. I would go with a 27-inch monitor, however, a 24-inch would have a higher pixel density. It really is up to you, at the end of the day.

 interesting thing about the higher pixel density. what exactly would that do?

Well, imagine a 21.5-inch 1080p monitor and a 27-inch 1080p monitor. Both monitors have the same resolution, but one is bigger than the other. The bigger screen will have bigger pixels, whereas the smaller, will have smaller pixels.

IMO, the bigger the better ..up to a point. But its highley subjective.

 

Ii run on a 42" screen and have done for years, back in the day i started of with 15" CRT's . .then 17" . .then finaly 22". The bigger the better.

 

However, it also depends on your sitting position, the closer you sit the smaller the screen can be so it has a higher PPI. The futher away you sit the bigger it can be.

I wouldnt dare sit as close as a more 'normal' PC desk sitting position to my 42" screen as it has a horribly low PPi of around 50. However at the 4' mark its 'ok'.

 

im sure for most poeple 24" or 27" is fine, but for me both are waaay to small. The smallest i would ever consider a 16:9 display is 37", but anything bigger than 42" is to big imo.

 

Bassicaly, its up to what you prefer.

I guess maybe 27" for you. I'd like such a display as IP 24" for my self though. Sitting arm distance.

I lean towards the 1440P myself, but depends on your budget and video card.
