Gsync Compatible Monitor issues

Hey all, 

I have been searching and googling the last 2 or so weeks for answers but haven't been able to come up with anything. So I bought me the Acer XG270HU which is a 1440p 144hz freesync monitor which is one of the 12 validated to be G-sync compatible. When I have Gsync turned on, I get random black screen flickering. Through my googling, this seems like it may be a common thing with all of the threads I could find being on actual gysnc monitors and prevalent after driver 399.XX. I have tried DDUing my drivers, 3 different display port cables with no help. The only way to fix it is to turn off gsync. 

Currently I am on driver 418.81 which is the driver I installed AFTER I used DDU. Current windows version is 1809.17763.316 Rest of system:

Ryzen 7 1800x @ 4.0ghz
GTX 1070
32gb Gskill Flare X memory
250gb 850 evo boot drive
1tb NVMe game storage
2x 3tb Seagate Baraccuda scratch drives

If I left anything out, let me know what you need. Any help/advice on fixing this, if any would be greatly appreciated. I bought this monitor because it was a great price and one of the 12 qualified by Nvidia to be as good as Gsync.

Try using a different cable type, I had to go through a bunch of different hdmi and display port cables until I found one that finally worked decent for gsync:freesync usage

Its not the cable. Ive tried 3 different display port cables. With G-sync turned off, I get no flickers or black screens.

Check in the control panel that g sync is being used as a global application setting, and try changing vsync on and off in games

sounds dumb but go through the monitors OSD and turn on and off freesync to see if it does anything

otherwise it may just be an issue as it is "compatible" but it is a recent introduction and there may just be bugs

as funny as it is, there is no Freesync options in my panels OSD. Enabling or disabling Vsync defeats the purpose of Gsync. At 1440p 144hz with a 1070, most games wont go above 144hz so no need for Vsync enabled anyways.

Are you using the latest monitor drivers (inf file)? Some models require it to have no issues with adaptive sync.

There are no drivers for this monitor. I spent the first day searching around for them. If you want to see if you can find something I couldnt, My monitor is the Acer XG270HU

Try installing it through device manager.

Windows 10 enforces driver signatures by default. This can be disabled to install drivers that are not digitally signed. Use the following steps to disable driver signature enforcement.

1. Click the Start menu and select Settings.
2. Click Update and Security.
3. Click on Recovery.
4. Click Restart now under Advanced Startup.
5. Click Troubleshoot.
6. Click Advanced options.
7. Click Startup Settings.
8. Click on Restart.
9. On the Startup Settings screen press 7 or F7 to disable driver signature enforcement.

Or try the Windows 7 driver. it's strange that device manager can't load a simple inf file.

That worked. It is now installed and showing as XG270HU in my device manager. Ill keep an eye on it and see if the troubles continue.

That doesnt seem like it would be applicable here.

So after about 8-10hrs of gaming yesterday between Final Fantasy XIV, Apex Legends, & Assassin's Creed Odyssey, seems installing the monitor drivers did the trick as I did not experience one random black screen flicker the whole time yesterday. Thank you for the tip and assistance in resolving this.
