R9 390X BIOS Update

TheColin21

Hey guys, I'm new to the LTT forum - I did use google and the search function and did not find anything useful.

I am the proud owner of an ASUS R9 390X DirectCU II. I had a few problems that could be caused by the card (game crashes and so on) and looked over at techpowerup for a newer VBIOS.

I found this https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/183551/asus-r9390x-8192-151110 which is for the very similar STRIX version.

Currently this (https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/173754/asus-r9390x-8192-150428) is flashed.

My questions are: can I even update the VBIOS of this card and if yes, can I update it to this version?

Can I go back?
Could I break the card?

And would it be useful if  I liquid-metaled the card? (I have some lying around.)

EDIT:

Some specs of my PC if needed:

i7 3770k @ 4,5GHz (stable) - watercooled (240mm Radiator)

16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM @ 1800 (stable too)

Windows running off of a Samsung 840 Evo 250GB

Windows 10 1809 - Fully updated

AMD Driver 19.2.1

Best regards and thanks in advance

thanks for the answer, how could I flash the newer BIOS and if something went wrong: how could I go back? About Liquid Metal... I know it's dangerous ... but I (theoretically) know what to do ?

u could start by reading a few flashing guides from the site pertained in your post  as for flash back always back up your original bios by extracting it using some popular tools ie gpuz or other known gpu bios extractors and then flash back u could always use some linux live derivative instead of windows

I'm about to read into this.. could you provide me with a few links? I already extracted the original VBIOS btw..

If something goes wrong, I guess I would need to use my iGPU to to boot and flash the correct BIOS, am I right?
And is it any bad, that the BIOS that I want to flash is not from the exactly same card?
