Should I get a RTX 2080Ti? (1440p)

Andreas Lilja

Hello friends,

Basically making a bunch of overtime money right now. Should I get one? Already have a 1080Ti. Am interested in the ray-tracing titles released so far.

I'm definitely getting that 200hz monitor when it comes out: https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG35VQ/- I currently have a 144hz one, but 27'

Yes? No? Hell yeah? Hell no? Wait for next gen? Just wait a bit period?

I don't think Ray Tracing is that important if you already have a 1080 ti.. I mean if you want to sell that and buy a 2080 ti, then go for it.. I just wouldn't do it..

Fair enough, newer games seem demanding though. Metro Exodus seemingly needs a 2080Ti if you max everything. I'm not sure at what resolution that is.

I'd buy that monitor first and see if your GPU suffices.

Sit on your money for a bit longer.

That's what I was thinking.

It's worth around $500? It's a Strix OC.

If you want the best then you gotta pay the best -Resident 2080 Ti owner

But in all reality it's a great GPU, don't buy one of those fancy coolers though, get the EVGA Black it's only $999, and probably one of the coolest things i own

Yea, just keep saving up and start with the monitor and then go from there. If you need that extra performance then go ahead. It's just unfortunate that it costs way more to upgrade these days.

Yea at 4k. Just turn down a few settings. Probably won't even notice much of a difference..

It's really up to you to decide if it's worth it or not. If the 2080 ti launched at the same price the 1080 ti did, I would just say sell the 1080 and get the 2080.

It's $999? Amazon.ca starts at $1,700 Canadian shekels (~$1200 USD).

Mostly looking at that retailer since there's no provincial tax (10%) and I always got nice service.

Afford it, yeah. Even two or three. But thousands of dollars is thousands of dollars.
