@jakkuh_t the "Red Stick" data wipe utility basically works the exact same way as DBAN. So, despite DBAN "not being for SSD's", neither is the Red Stick utility either.

 

If you want to actually wipe an SSD in 2 minutes, check out PartedMagic or any other number of free tools, and use "ATA Secure Erase". It sends a voltage spike to every cell in the SSD, which "resets" (wipes) the cell back to zero.

 

For an SSD, it actually does work in minutes.

 

It's been tested and in testing the data was pretty well destroyed - but I don't know if anyone has ever done thorough testing on it before.

That would almost certainly be piracy... so that's a huge no. You think Linus is gonna risk potential legal issues over a $45 USB key?

 

Just DBAN or PartedMagic instead.
