can an adapter work inside an other adapter?

i couldnt make the title any less confusing, anyway so i ordered a new gpu but i only now realised that it doesnt have a VGA port.

and my monitor only uses VGA. the gpu im getting only has: DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort ports.

and here i cannot find any adapters that go from any of those to VGA.

 

but then

so i found this VGA - DVI-I adapter  laying around and i found a DVI-I to HDMI adapter and i was wondering if i can plug the DVI-I (male) then plug it into DVI-I (female) then plug it into the HDMI adapter and then finally into the gpu HDMI port?

 

this is a really stupid solution but i got no other choice :(

It should work as long as the VGA-DVI one works (the DVI-HDMI one will def work because DVI is basically just HDMI but only video)

 

though what kind of monitor only has VGA? a CRT?

wait a second, DVI-I from HDMI? thats impossible, as DVI-I is analogue, and HDMI is digital, that would only work with a powered connection.

Well I have an HDMI to VGA adapter, so why does that work?

What is actually supposed to go here? Some people put their specs, others put random comments or remarks about themselves or others, and there are a few who put cryptic statements.

VGA is analog, you need an active adapter to convert digital ports (DVI-D, HDMI or DP) to analog.

 

It would be wiser to replace the monitor.
