Yeah your windows install is fucked, as is possibly your HDD. 

 

Although I question why you're running XP in the first place?

Use any live cd/usb.

Linux based...there are several of em.

What do you mean by "no good"? The drive wasn't detected at all? The drive was detected but no data was on it?

So you tried to boot off the broken drive? That's not a good idea

 I was suggesting to connect the drive as a secondary drive to a PC that already has an OS on it.

I have a netbook so only one sata port
