Trying to save my old Laptop

Hello there,

 

I'm trying to keep my old laptop alive as long as I can,

The little Potato is equipped with:

-Intel i5 3210m, 2c4t, Intel HD4000 (Ivy Bridge)

-Nvidia GT620m

-4GB RAM (sometimes 8GB, depends on the mood of it)

-Early December 2011 when i bought it

 

Issues i had with it in the past:

-Just heat because dust (cleaned heatsink & fan fixed it, did it every 6 months)

-Broken Hinge (Repaired it a year ago)

-Current Issue: GPU produces a lot of heat (overheats easily, since a half year) and CPU is a bit too warm for my taste in Idle (50° C)

> it didn't overheat with the iGPU but it struggled to keep performance (the CPU thermal throttled)

 

So now I opened it and applied at both the cpu and gpu new thermal paste, on the gpu was way to much thermal paste preapplied (first time I removed the heatpipes) the gpu is cooled via 1 copper heatpipe that goes to the cpu and then to the heatsink and fan, the CPU has another copper heatpipe that goes directly to the heatsink and fan. I cleaned the fan and heatsink in the process. But the fan never goes into the full Airplane mode it's more silent now than before but it feels like it doesnt work against the heat.

In Idle it sits now around 40° to 45°C, I know that I won't get the 25° - 30°C like on my pc but 45° is way too warm for idle, and it doesnt overheat anymore but the 85° - 90° C under load is too close to it

Any suggestions to improve the cooling of my potato?

 

Got an Wraith Stealth cooler lying around buuut it would kinda destroy the point of an laptop.

- Gonna get a new Laptop just want to keep that one alive as long as possible.

i could try that, but after working for two hours, I get temperatures around 70° C, which is worrying, i mean better than yesterday before I reapplied thermal paste (85° C -90° C) but for some Researching, watching videos it's way too high. So replacing the thermal concrete that was before on it did something but not that much how I hoped. But the fan still barely ramps up, like its louder than in idle but it can work much more.

I have a old sandy bridge i3 laptop. The fans are always at max. I know that this isn't the intended behaviour and temperatures are high, but as long as it doesn't crash which it didn't until very recently, I'm fine since I'm willing to accept that it's a 6 year old laptop.
