I don't own the game but, if you are curious about how well would it run on your hardware then, just grab it from the E?️ic games store and, play it for a while then get a refund.

According to their refund policy found here, you can play for a maximum of 2 hours to be eligible for a refund.

Make sure to quote or tag people, so they get notified.

I have tested the game with RTX on and I am not having issues at 4k with a 2080 ti.

I use the high settings recommended by Hardware Unboxed.

I would not like the play the game with less than a 2080 ti with RTX on at 4k.

Yeah i have the game and so far it runs resnable with at I7 980X @ 4.4 Ghz and a GTX 1080 TI. But it is GPU hog, meaning at some places its really demanding and i can get a lag spike here and there. But i can live with that. Play for now at 1080P ultra settings. Extreme is to much and laggy for me. FPS. is about 70 to 120 FPS, so as told some places the game becomes a hog on the GPU. You need a desent powerful GPU to take the game on even on 1080P and ultra settings. But so far im injoying it and also played the two older games as well.

The difficulty is not that hard...well so far at least. I started out with normal but turned it op to hardcore to get more challenge.

This. Screw epic store.

EDIT: Also, since I don't have an RTX card (Ryzen 1600x and GTX 1070 here) I'll be playing the game on 1360x768 TV, probably on ultra settings. Should run fine. ^_^

Ryzen 1600x @4GHz

Asus GTX 1070 8GB @1900MHz

16 GB HyperX DDR4 @3000MHz

Asus Prime X370 Pro

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

Noctua NH-U14S

Seasonic M12II 620W

+ four different mechanical drives.

It depends on the settings you want. Can you live with normal or du you want ultra. For ultra at least a GTX 1070 i would say. Extreme GTX 1080 maybe even TI. Extreme is not for fun.

For ultra 1080P GTX 1070 al least. And if you want RTX then 2070 since RXT 2060 seems to have a hard time with RTX on.

RTX Off

My RTX on readings are strange so I am retesting.

RTX on = 101 to 114 inside. 86 to 111 outside.

The frame rate is more fascinating than the game.

Update:

directx 12 did not install properly on my computer.

After the reinstall I got in the 40s outdoors and in the 50s in doors at 4k without DLSS. With DLSS the frame went up by 10.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have tried ME on two rigs:

Intel i7 4770K + Radeon VII + 16GB RAM @3840x1080 Ultra setting

Intel i7 2600K + GTX1080 + 16GB RAM @3440x1440 Ultra setting

Game is quite playable and pretty smooth, though it does slow down in certain exterior scenes. I do recall seeing framerates  dipped down to mid 40's in some wide open places in Caspian Sea and Taiga.

I played it throught the first time Rambo-style and got a bad ending (remember, Metro series has some morality principle that rewards you, more so with this one where your actions affect some characters in the game, and the most definitely the end). Played it thru again with some restraints and got a happy ending.
