RTX 2060 vs 1080 which ones better for 4K????

Hey guys Ive been wanting to buy a decent card for a while now to upgrade from my 970. However I didnt really feel anything would be worth the upgrade until now. So i have the budget for either a brand new 2060 or a used 1080 which is about the same price as a 2060. Is 6GB Vram enough? most of the benchmarks I've seen the 2060 is almost on par with a 1080 its just that maybe the VRAM is at full load. SO UM. what do u guys think ? is the 2060s 6GB GDDR6 vram a match for the 8GB GDDR5x? manufacturer brand name suggestions would be appreciated as well.

For 4k is 2070 and above.

1440p is playable with a 2060.

The RTX 2060 is fine for 1440p. It lacks some VRAM for 4K.

forget new triple A games, then it's alright. It;s limited by compute power at that point as well, so not like 1080 will do any better.

I'm using a 1080 for 4k and I strongly disagree. Ofc I'm not always on max settings but things like AA are almost useless at 4k anyways, depending on screen size.

If you want 4k you should really get a 2080 or better.

 

2070 is barely better than the 2060, only saving grace is the extra VRAM buffer.

 

if you want 1440p, 2060 or Vega 56/64 are good contenders. RTX 2070 makes no sense at all IMO and you're better spending less on the before mentioned or go up to the 2080.

2080 is waaaaayyyy outta budget bro LOL I am looking to replace a Xbox one X cuz it runs 4k and ithas like 12 GB of VRAM

The Haswell i7 is fine for an RTX 2060 or GTX 1080 card.

You can't really compare consoles to PCs.

 

Plus, most 4k console experiences are 30fps locked, which is terrible

1080 should be capable of reaching ~60 FPS at 4k medium-ish settings. So go for that one, as it is faster than 2060 and has more VRAM

No AA will provide better FPS than DLSS

The xbox gpu is an underclocked rx580 so yes. I d say go for the 1080. Of course a more powerful card than 2060. No comparison at all. The next gen nvidia XX60  would be better than a gtx 1080 and that by a small margin. Which used 1080 have you found?

Your reply is funny, ignorant and not helpful at all because you don't know what you re talking about. Meaning that a 2080 ti might not be good for 4K and a 780 ti or a fury might be good for 4K in the same time. It all depends and your reply only stands true if the OP want to play AAA games at 4K above 60 fps. So next time do not generalize about things because you re not helping. Of course OP should have stated what does he want to see in 4K res.
