It's not just distributors though, people often forget economy of scale. In the US they're buying multitudes what Canadian companies are, thus their pricing is drastically lower. One should generally expect about a 30% increase; you have to factor in duty as well as the currency differential.

Like I said, a small increase makes sense (I did mentioned 15-20% increase AFTER conversion), paying double or more doesn't make any sense though, especially when it's sometimes things that are fabricated here, the one product I remember was the rubber mats you put over outdoor steps in the winter, there was a Canadian company that were making those here, but somehow it was more than double the price here in Canada, and that's back when the USD and CAD were at par.

I'm not saying we should have thing at the same price here, in fact if you read my initial comment, I said I know it should be more, and even said why I thought so. ;)

so not having to choose is worth a 400$ usd inflation?

For users yes, look, after years of dealing with them I can assure you they DON'T CARE about the price, they just want the item to have a friendly name and be plug and play.

That's why scammers like that dude do what they do, my country is full of people like him and not just in tech simply everywhere from a simple grocery store selling old bread like if it was fresh at inflated prices to a bus driver overcharging for a trip or a supermarket taking advatage of being monopolistic

for reference a prebuilt computer with a dual core Pentium G, 4 gigs of memory, a 500GB hard drive and a rebranded chinese knockoff case, PSU and peripherals combo is around $750, it's worth what, $250? maybe even less, I wouldn't even dare to ask about a rig like mine because not only half of the components don't exist here (PSU, watercooler, case, memory) but I just know they'll ask me like $3000 for it or prolly more.

Stuff like that might be super rare in Canada but for me is just the way it is

What is an 860 Qvo?

Wondering the same thing, actually saw it for the first time today. Probably a cheaper version of the Evo.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

I mean... that price is more or less what an external SSD cost in Canada...
Just look at newegg.

Someone who is smart will just buy a regular 2TB SATA SSD, which cost less than 400$ and put it in an external USB 3.0 enclosure for much cheaper.... OR replace the internal drive with the SSD.
But that's the thing with a lot of "pre packaged" products, they are for people who don't know better or are just too lazy and want to save themselves a potential hassle by buying a ready to use item.

Overpriced, yes. But it also feels like people complaining don't remember how much SSDs used to cost where 120GB under 300usd was considered a deal.
