Looking for new monitor

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Hey guys, I am having some real trouble finding a monitor I feel good about buying.

I am looking for something 1440p and preferably 32 inch (don't ask why, its a stupid reason)- I am using this for csgo and league of legends.

Most monitors I have found are $500+ or have really bad seeming reviews. Any help on this is appreciated.

Where are you looking?

Not curved:

Dell S3219D

Samsung S32D850T

Curved:

Acer ED323QUR <-- this one is actually awesome, curved and 144Hz

ViewSonic VX3258-2KC-MHD

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Desktop:

Intel Core i7-3820 | Corsair H100i | ASUS P9X79-LE | 16GB Patriot Viper 3 1866MHz DDR3 | MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G | 2TB WD Blue M.2 SATA SSD | 2TB Hitachi Deskstar HDD | 1TB WD Black HDD | Corsair CX750M Fractal Design Define R5 Windows 10 Pro / Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon

Laptop:

Dell XPS 15 9560 4K Touch | Intel Core i5-7300HQ | 12GB Generic (Crucial?) 2133MHz DDR4 | Nvidia GTX 1050 | 256GB Toshiba M.2 NVMe SSD | Windows 10

i have the 32" samsung chg70. Its going for 539$ on Amazon right now.I believe most well reviewed monitor that are 1440p 144hz its going to cost in the 450-550 range.

  • Pros:
    • Great picture
    • The curve is really nice (I thought I would hate it, but it helps your peripheral view on a larger screen)
    • No noticeable ghosting
    • Fast response time
    • Peak brightness of 600 nits with typical brightness of 350 nits
    • The colors are great (its a quantum dot panel)
    • has local dimming*
      • only like 8 zones
    • Has HDR*
      • Doesn't work well on Windows, fine with like an xbox.
    • I've had no issues using the freesync with an Nvidia card.
  • Cons:
    • The stand takes up a lot of space
    • a bit pricy
    • The local dimming and HDR could be better.
