Help me overclock my RAM. with EasyTune

Hi, 

 

I am new to RAM Overclock. 

My board is from Gigabyte and it comes with this little program "EasyTune"

 

 

 

I cant overlock the cpu because is a non k cpu. but i can overlock the ram right?

 

I have a Kingston HyperX 8 GB 2400 MHZ. x4

at total i have 32 GB of RAM.

 

My motherboard is this: GA-Z170X-Gaming 7

On the motherboard specs it says "Support for DDR4 3866(O.C)/3733(O.C)/3666(O.C) /3600(O.C.) /3466(O.C.) /3400(O.C.) /3333(O.C.) /3300(O.C.) /3200(O.C.) /3000(O.C.) /2800(O.C.) /2666(O.C.) /2400(O.C.) /2133 MHz memory modules" 

So i can try to oc maybe to 3000 Mhz or 2800 Mhz.

 

But i see to the screenshot above and i go crazy with that numbers. 

Can you guys help me with that numbers? i dont want to do extreme overlocking. just increase a bit of the MHZ.

Use an XMP profile, it'll be much easier for you.

Ram overclocking is a waste of time. Synthetics aside, you're not going to get anywhere near noticable performance on that platform to justify instability. Use XMP and call it a day.

A RAM OC will yield nothing, for real world performance.  Benches might be higher but who cares about that.  Leave your RAM alone 3200Mhz or 4000Mhz is the same sh*T period.  The CPU only calls on a certain number of RAM and speed, you don't need anything higher then a 2666Mhz, or you won't see the difference and what not.

I did see this Video and it seems 3000 Mhz have better FPS.

Yes 3 fps more.  Not being harshe sorry for that, just stating the facts.  So I guess the MSI mobo and 5800Mhz RAM will really take up FPS LMAO,, NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might as well not overclock anything right? If each overclock provides a few FPS, it begins to add up. Now it really may not be necessary on the platform the OP is using, but who cares, if he wants to overclock then so be it. He didn't come here asking for your stupid opinion on whether it was worth it or not.

Well my friend OCing is fun.  Im just saying I have done research on RAM for years.  To see whats up with low latency and lower Mhz or high Mhz and loostened timings.  I ran 4 games.  With my RAM set at 1333Mhz then same games and sceneario 1866Mhz and the frame rate was identical in these AAA games.  The lowest frame per second is same with 1333Mhz or 1866Mhz.  These are just facts and I tested this thing big time.  

 

Only advice I will give with my findings is have tighter timings and lower Mhz.

I understand they may be facts. And I'm not disagreeing with you about whether or not the performance increase is or isn't noticeable. It's just kind of pointless to mock the person over 3 FPS. You could have explained a little better as to why they shouldn't OC their RAM in the first place instead of just saying:

Im sorry for being blunt my friend.  My point was if theres 3200Mhz in the industry now then will MSI mobo RAM OCV of 5800Mhz make your FPS fly 20 more fps.  The answer is NO.  Maybe 5fps,  I ran a MSI benchmark and I was literally getting same score with 1333 or with 1866Mhz.  Which tells me 2400Mhz wont be big difference and 3200Mhz will see no difference.  I read this scholoary article about RAM and how CPU uses it.  The CPU can only take certain amount of RAM and disburse it,  Anything above 2400Mhz is a over kill and pointless imo.  Just my findings after doing ton of research and running tests myself.  Thanks

Okay guys. so Bumping the Mhz is useless. okay i get it now.

Other question i remember linus saying that is possbile to overclock non K CPUs like mine. i7 6700. 

Do you guys have any tutorial or is even worth it? my cooler can handle i have a Corsair H100i water cooling.
