This card with 16GB HBM2 must be making crypto miners (the one that still exist) drool. 

 

Ethereum mining on that thing must be nuts. And if you can lower core clock and boost memory clock even further, then this should be able to turn a profit really quickly. Even with current prices.

Except that the GCN architecture is limited to 64CUs total. Both the Fury X and the Vega 64 are limited to 64CUs and, even the 290X had 64 ROPs (but 44 CUs). AMD would need to drastically redesign the architecture to surpass that limit, which, considering they're not going to do the RnD to cut off half-ish of the HBM, (which has its own host of problems), I doubt they would. #WaitForVegaNavi

Hopefully HBM2 prices will drop once micron gets penalized.

I don't believe AMD is making much on these 7 Cards because of the high cost of HBM memory.
