MSI or Gigabyte?

I've been looking at motherboards around the $140-150 mark for my upcoming R5 2600 build.

 

I've narrowed it down to two board so far, first is MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon priced at $139.99.

The second one being the Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming which is currently on sale for $119.99, regularly $139.99

 

 

The MSI board has HUGELY better ratings. A lot of people report the gigabyte board failing within a year.

 

Everywhere I look though everyone always says MSI is bad and Gigabyte is better, so I'm having trouble make a decision.

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

the MSI board is out of stock in Newegg. Are you limited to newegg?

I can order from Amazon where it is in stock for actually $10 less. So it's $119.99 plus shipping/tax for the x470  vs $129.99 no shipping, plus tax for the b450

Msi motherboards for b350 and x370 were pretty garbage compared to gigabyte but for b450 and x470 msi really did a nice job and made alot of quality motherboards. I would probably save some money and get a tomahawk instead but that is just me.

if you're a heavy "I overclock for fun" people then use gigabyte because it has a CPU clock gen (so BCLK can be anything you want). If you just want reliable performance, go with MSI.
