Spoiler

I post this entirely in jest.

Does RGB just look really cool, or does it actually make your game better?

When you feel better, you are more confident, when you are more confident, you should perform better.

it seems like a dumb question, but it might actually help build confidence and therefore add to your skillz.

If you have a sick gaming PC, it is the same thing, Your confident your rig will perform.

based off the evidence here, what do you think? or is this a placebo effect type of thing?

Placebo effect 100%

RGB is 100% a distraction when gaming seeing things flickering and changing out of your peripheral vision is distracting and could make you lose concentration in the heat of a fire fight.

Having well performing rig does have its benefits. As you can get more fps and use better monitors smoothly. Same goes with quality mouse and keyboard, or controller. After that its about user more than what they are using. No amount of lights and other effects will be different.

Why? Because gaming isn't about how you look doing it. Lets be honest, nobody looks "cool" when they game. RGB makes it worse. Do you actually looks at your fancy stuff while gaming? Nope. You concentrate on what you see and hear. You react and act based on those. Not the blinking of your mouse or keyboard. If anything, I would call them distraction.

Everyone knows blue light leads to eye fatigue, and red light leads to sexual deviancy, so clearly Green LEDs are the only acceptable option.

I dont think that even fits as a placebo, because I DOUBT there is a real effect in gaming, and placebos usually DO HAVE some effects. I would call a pseudo-placebo at best

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

Placebo does fit because there are likely some out there who absolutely do believe it gives them some form of an advantage.
